Were you guys not just talking About small sample sizes? How you gon' call Ullmark a backup after 3 games and a family tragedy?

27 mil between the 3

zero even strength goals

- homiedclown

Yup and shooting at 1.27% this season

That will go up. Goals will come.

Depth scoring actually won us the last game

No, I want them to be better than both bottom 20 out of 60 on a defensive team that limits chances.
- sbroads24

Defensive team??? Are you kidding yourself the system is defensive but nothing about this team should be. Coach has been a joke, can't even put together more than one competent line.

Funny how you continually ignore my question about how/why u think a goalie coming off a season with a below .900save% is good enough?
- jdfitz77

Sure I’ll answer you. He had the balls to play hurt, put the team first and probably doesn’t give a rats ass what anyone else thinks. Appears to be the type of player I’d want to have around. Your point of having an under 900 season means as much to me as the under 900 seasons for Bob, Rinne and Murray. Pros bounce back.
The fact Skinner had a bad year only means to me he wants to prove everyone wrong and have a good year this year.
If you want to just use one year as a benchmark go take a look at Haseks career year by year. Super talent who had some off years.

I'd like to think they'll be getting on their high horse soon enough. To many posts lately, you can definitely see the frustration. Skinner on the other hand I dont expect anything from while he continues to play with garbage bottom six players. I don't care how much hes getting payed hes a shooter playing with grinders and bad ones at that. I don't get our coach.
- Keepcomplaining

this team should build it's top 2 line with hall, skinner and olofsson in the slot

instead it's bad puck luck again for season 14

maybe if the game plan was to put guys in position to succeed, it would be more then the broken record of puck luck

Ain't nobody taking Hutton as he is below average now, so we're trading Ullmark + for what? Darcy? Gunna be Ullmark +++ from what Arizona's asking
- Keepcomplaining

So we pay that price, & get a goalie we can make the playoffs with

OR

Don’t pay that price, stick with what we’ve got & miss the playoffs.... and then likely lose Hall & risk Jack asking out

I’m not willing to risk losing our 2 best players without trying everything possible to upgrade this team & keep them here
And idk why anyone would?

Not sure why they would do that. They get Okposo but now they need another goalie.
- Camel

I'm not so sure, Logan Thompson is a good tender and on the taxi squad already I believe. And we have two pending UFA tenders and a handful of #3s if they don't trust Thompson to get it done.

One goalie is. Below his average numbers but its the beginning of the year and hes definitely got stuff on his mind. Maybe stop coughing the puck infront of them allowing for some sure goals. You don't talk about how bad Dahlin has been or Joker

- jdfitz77

who would get us in the playoffs when we score 1.3 even strength goals per game?

you act like we have all star d men, we don't

and our special teams are below average

sabres gave up 13 even strength goals in 6 games

thank staal for one directly

8 even strength goals in the last 5 games

sabres scored 9 even strength goals in 6 games

if you give up 8 even strength goals in 5 games, and have eichel, hall, skinner plus and the best d prospect in 30 years, you should have a winning record in those 5 games

- homiedclown

That’s all fine. I’m not directly blaming them for the losses.

That doesn’t mean they’ve been remotely good.

This team doesn’t give up many chances, when they do they hit the back of the net way too easily

X-Axis shows we are a very good defensive team.

Y-Axis shows our goalies haven’t given us the results that we should have considering how well we defend

just promote one of the wingers from the 4th line and keep dressing the best prospect (cozens)

that would be a good place to start

teams need to carry 3 goalies, a little late to grab one now, we are over 10 percent into the season already

so our goalies suck this season

but the other teams with worse numbers gets a pass as they played a small sample size

only in buffalo

- homiedclown

Where EXACTLY did i give those other teams a pass?
Now you’re just making sh!t up dude
Those other teams you’re mentioning are getting by with subpar goaltending, we aren’t

True or false?

*and if their poor goaltending continues, and ours improves, then we’ll have a chance to catch them!

Maybe I’m not paying attention but I’ve seen one really bad play of his in 6 games and the rest has been solid for a bottom guy which is how he’s used right now

They’ve basically had the easiest workload outside of Varlamov and get below average results despite

I can’t believe they’re both still here

the beauty of the movie trouble with the curve, is you can see what is going on

apply that to hockey

you can see where mccabe sucked and gave up an odd man rush that led to a goal

you can see where staal coughed it up right in front of his net and led to a goal

you can see the dahlin turnovers that led to goals

those 3 things alone, led to half the even strength goals we allowed this season

the beauty of watching a game

So theyre on the same level as Bob, Carter Hart and other good goalies struggling at this moment... Those goalies weren't out 10 months watching the other teams play..

half of our "poor" even strength goals allowed this season came from a mccabe blunder, a staal blunder and 3 dahlin blunders

clean them up or score on the pp and we are 4-1-1 with our "pathetic" goalies

No, they're on the same level as Devan Dubnyk who's been terrible for the last few years

Hart is on the far right hand side, which means the Flyers are much, much worse on defense and are putting a ton on Hart's shoulders. That's the opposite in Buffalo

I have watched every game.

I also agree that special teams costed us two games because we went a combined 0/9 on the PP.

That doesn’t absolve the fact that our goaltenders underperform either though.

Sooner or later the goals are going to start piling in here we are the unluckiest team in the league right now

These things are all accounted for - They are not held against the goalie in expected saves against. They don't expect a save in that situation most of the times

And the goalies won't improve? The toughest position in sports, toughest position to get a grove going, especially when your team keeps feeding the other team within 10 feet of our net
