Maybe they are like me and they don’t believe there is a problem, so why fix something that’s not broke. When the primary goal scorers start to score there may not be any problems to worry about.
- Camel

How is a goalie with below a .900 save% from last year “not a problem” though?

Also....
it was widely reported that we were looking for a goalie upgrade in the offseason,
and AGAIN reported last week

So no, it seems obvious that the Sabres do NOT agree with you

Why the Sabres are almost good. A brief breakdown.

Eichel ranks 10th in the league with 23 shots but is obviously last with a shooting percentage of zero. It’s part of a team-wide trend. The Sabres are second in the NHL with 34.8 shots per game but are tied for 26th with a shooting percentage of 8.1 percent.

Other Sabres with abnormally low shooting percentages include Jeff Skinner (no goals on 18 shots) and Hall (one goal, 19 shots, 5.3 percent).

“The goal, obviously, is how many goals you have at the end of the night and how many they have,” Hall said. “It doesn’t matter how many shots you have or how many Grade A chances.”

That’s especially true when pucks are entering the Sabres’ net at high rate. Buffalo is allowing the ninth-fewest shots per game at 27.3 but Linus Ullmark, Carter Hutton and Jonas Johansson have a combined save percentage of .901.

I think his numbers WITH us are more appropriate to go by
He’s NOT good
And it isn’t arguable

- jdfitz77

That is your opinion. It’s not arguable for me either. Both goalies are tough as nails and are playing well. Don’t just use the stats that make your argument sound good. Hutton for one has good career stats and extremely good stats in the 2 years prior to coming to Buffalo. He’s definitely had some injuries and to boot he’s played through some. Ullmark is young, has good stats and has played extremely well under circumstances no one would wish on anyone.
Take a look around the league and you will see many teams that have goaltenders struggling.

I have read a lot of rumours about goaltenders moving here, there, everywhere. When they actually trade for a goalie I’ll be the first guy to say you put up a good argument.

Funny how you continually ignore my question about how/why u think a goalie coming off a season with a below .900save% is good enough?

Neither are playing well.

they are 40th and 44th out of 60 eligible goalies in goals saved above expected.

There's absolutely nothing but excuses or anecdotes that point in the direction of them being any type of positive.

The Sabres have two backup goalies

Hutton’s stats from 4+ years ago, with a much better defensive team, simply don’t apply to the team he has in front of him NOW
And his stats with us more than prove that

It’s not like we can swap out & bring in all the players necessary to make us a much better defensive team right now dude

No, they actually aren’t playing well

*from Broads
They are 40th and 44th out of 60 eligible goalies in goals saved above expected.

And they only have a combined .901save%

That’s not “playing well”
It’s actually playing poorly

Because he played like a borderline backup last season and it looks the same this season so far?

It’s fine if you want to say the sample size is small. It’s another to make believe they’ve played well

They haven’t

Ain't nobody taking Hutton as he is below average now, so we're trading Ullmark + for what? Darcy? Gunna be Ullmark +++ from what Arizona's asking

How does going off such a small sample size make ANY sense?

It would be like me saying that Lazar is a better goal scorer than Eichel

Come on now sir

- jdfitz77

so our goalies suck this season

but the other teams with worse numbers gets a pass as they played a small sample size

These guys make no sense, literally the hardest position in all of sports and these guys want them to be perfect in the first couple games after almost of year of not playing competitive hockey

I mean for 3 weeks they b!tch about risto, dahlin, miller, montour

and then they blame the goalies 2 weeks later

it's one thing to say we need better play from the goalies, and they do

but they also need better special teams
more goals 5 on 5
better play from their 6 d men

the last 3 things are the bigger reason why we are below .500

No, I want them to be better than both bottom 20 out of 60 on a defensive team that limits chances.

I'd like to think they'll be getting on their high horse soon enough. To many posts lately, you can definitely see the frustration. Skinner on the other hand I dont expect anything from while he continues to play with garbage bottom six players. I don't care how much hes getting payed hes a shooter playing with grinders and bad ones at that. I don't get our coach.

sabres gave up 13 even strength goals in 6 games

thank staal for one directly

8 even strength goals in the last 5 games

sabres scored 9 even strength goals in 6 games

if you give up 8 even strength goals in 5 games, and have eichel, hall, skinner plus and the best d prospect in 30 years, you should have a winning record in those 5 games
