agreed, when your top goal scorers dont score goals, all bets are off.

Eventually those 3 players will end up scoring. It’s not a matter of if ..... it’s when. They are far too talented not to score

I think it’s safe to say we all agree there
The question is:
Does that happen soon enough to help us dog out of this hole we’ve started in?

We need at least 6points in these next 4games
At least that’s what we should be shooting for

Nice little Deadspin writeup on UB's Jaret Patterson :

Let's draft him

It is foolish to look past a goaltending upgrade. It should be the number one priority. Carter hutton is a below average goaltender for his career who put together 2 average years followed by a great contract year prior to signing here. As a sabre its

.908
.898
.899

Its not good enough under any circumstance, there is no reason to believe it will change and we are wasting an opportunity in a short season with what appears to be a competitive offense when eichel hall and skinner get going

And i don’t think the Devils are as good as their record so far

Nothing shocking here:
But we gotta start scoring AND the goaltending has to continue to hold up

- jdfitz77

Hughes has really turned it on
Nico is getting closer to returning which will help and bratt is in the NHL protocol so should be ready soon ish

No word on vats

But the devil's have looked good so far

Lost in shootout to Boston
Won in OT vs Boston
Won vs rival rangers
Lost to isles after finding out blackwood is on protocol list
Won vs isles

So it's not like the devil's have played weak teams as isles and Boston are top teams in the league

Yes it's very early and don't expect the devil's to keep it up but they have looked good so far

The problem is goalies don’t come cheap now as each team has 3. Very few if any are truly on the market. MAF was and still could be on the market but it would take a money in, money out deal. MAF for Hutton, McCabe and Thompson.
Remember it’s not what you want to give them it’s what’s they may want and what MAF wants.

While you are correct. The Sabres have always played the devils pretty good the last couple years. I get it a a new year and new team though.

Maybe they are like me and they don’t believe there is a problem, so why fix something that’s not broke. When the primary goal scorers start to score there may not be any problems to worry about.

Why the Sabres are almost good. A brief breakdown.

Eichel ranks 10th in the league with 23 shots but is obviously last with a shooting percentage of zero. It’s part of a team-wide trend. The Sabres are second in the NHL with 34.8 shots per game but are tied for 26th with a shooting percentage of 8.1 percent.

Other Sabres with abnormally low shooting percentages include Jeff Skinner (no goals on 18 shots) and Hall (one goal, 19 shots, 5.3 percent).

“The goal, obviously, is how many goals you have at the end of the night and how many they have,” Hall said. “It doesn’t matter how many shots you have or how many Grade A chances.”

That’s especially true when pucks are entering the Sabres’ net at high rate. Buffalo is allowing the ninth-fewest shots per game at 27.3 but Linus Ullmark, Carter Hutton and Jonas Johansson have a combined save percentage of .901.

He’s not at all wrong. I mentioned that yesterday in a post.

Sabres have gotten the depth scoring. Hall Eichel and skinner need the shoot better than 1.27%.

MAF
For
Hutton and Okposo.

It makes too much sense, IMO.

Sabres hold celery in Hutton this year.
Vegas Holds celery on MAF to get him to 6 mil.

Celery is a wash going forward after Huttons contract is up.

I don’t believe they would take or want okposo. McCabe and Hutton I think they would take.
