The problem is that the Cap is going down,
and we’ve gotta sign Milano & Hyde before we can even make any other improvements in the O-line or D-line or wherever
Not gonna have much $$$ to do that
But i guess we’ll see what happens

- jdfitz77

every good team in the league will have the same problem too. itll be an interesting off season for everyone.

We’ll play them in the regular season too
So that’ll give us an idea of how well the offseason changes we make worked

Fair enough. I agree there

Does Mahomes’ $50mil per contract kick in next year?
If so, KC will likely lose some guys too

I don't think Allen was very good vs Baltimore or KC, but it's amazing to me how Daboll get's touted as this offensive mastermind genius OC, yet against certain teams, can't scheme up anything original to get something going.

The whole broadcast talked about how guys were just never open yesterday. So where are these play designs we saw against SF and NE where Lee Smith is running wide open, or McKenzie runs the fake sweep wheel route?

0 50/50 balls dialed up for Davis who's very good at attacking the ball in the air.

We got severely outcoached

- sbroads24

Big time.
The difference in the game to me was D gameplan. KC elected to shut down the receivers in tight, while Buf decided to keep the play in front of them.

So many things go into that though...
KC has a better D-line that was allowed to tee-off on the pass rush allowing their D to take away shorter passes.
KC has a running game threat, Buffalo couldn't ignore the run else that kills them
Buffalo has no run game to slow the pass rush

my personal belief is that Baltimore and KC had zero fear for our run game, and simply blanketed our receivers, just like in that Jets game. Our run game has been.. bad. This year.

I will die on the hill that you need an elite passing game to be a perennial SB contender, but you need at the very least a threatening run game to ensure that some coverage is dedicated to stopping the run attack. Christ, Daboll didn't even consider run plays against the Ravens.

And more importantly, his receivers by in large were wide ass open all night.

They know which receivers are going to be open simply by the play call due to the great play design by the Chiefs.

They deserve a massive amount of credit for that.

- kingcong39

I don’t like this bend but don’t break soft zone defenses we play
It works ok against most teams, but when u go up against Mahomes with his weapons he’s proved he’ll just pick it apart all night

Idk that we’ll change that philosophy at all though?

The bills need a real legit pass rusher.

During the colts and chiefs playoff games .... both QBs literally had all day to throw.

- Sabretooth9

100% agree

I hated how we spent so much $$$ on rotational players for the Def line
Can only have 4 in at a time
Too much cap $$$ sitting on the bench on every play- & Murphy a healthy $10mil scratch

Gotta put that $$$ to better use going forward

It should be all healed in plenty of time for next year though

all of this is fair. I think it boils down to the guys on the field in the end. it's easy to blame the coaching staff. the chiefs are clearly the best team in the league. it's nothing new really. upgrade the roster, get better all around and come out swinging next year.
- TheHank

Holy crap Hank- we’re agreeing a lot today
Sure, we did get out coached
But we also got outexecuted by better players as well

Is there even one position group we are better than them at?
KC is a very talented team, and it showed

I think it's the year after next. I was just thinking about that today. they wont have the patriots luxury of having a qb taking a discount after next year. their massive window will shrink a bit. they'll have to maneuver like everyone else. hopefully the Bill's can take advantage of having a qb on a rookie deal these next two years.

Agree taco, but these o line man were assembled to throw the ball. They are more agile than straight ahead run blocking bulldozers.

Its difficult to tape this o line together and expect all of them to be good at both run and pass blocking.

Dawkins is awesome

Say what you will about Mahomes, and he deserves every bit of it, but is there another group of receivers and tight ends (to include Kelce) that get more wide open more often? And I don't just mean against Buffalo either.

no. they are better all around. that's why I wont put this all on the coaches or allen. they're just better. I hope/trust Beane can address it. I also hope mcdermott will learn from this not kick field goals on 4th and goal or 4th and 3 at the ten us line next year too. I know we still "would've lost" but if you punch in both of those drives maybe it forces kc to make plays late which could've turned in our favor. I'd rather go down swinging than putting my tail between my legs anyways.

Understand that, it's gonna be tough on a lot of teams, Jesus New Orleans is 60mill over the cap right know for next year, if it drops to what there thinking they could be almost 80mill over. There could be a lot of decent Football players looking for work next year.

Allen’s 5th year option will see his Cap hit go up to around $25mil i believe,
but that’s still better than the $40-$50mil deal he’ll get on his next contract

We’ll have to see what moves we can make this offseason to improve the defense

Our defying under Beane/McDermott has just been average though
I think I’d be ok trading back this year to get extra picks this year & next

Part of that is play design,
but KC undoubtedly has elite offensive talent
