While we’re on this topic, and this isn’t directed at you, trust me

I’m going to assume Taylor Hall isn’t very good because Eichel can’t score goals next to him

Just like Skinner wasn’t very good because Eichel didn’t score as many goals with him as his line mate

- sbroads24

but we could put a pylon next to eichel

I really don’t understand the trade from the Winnipeg side.
Laine has scored 50 goals in this league. But you know he’s not great defensively so he must be the worst player in the world.

Can you imagine Laine next to Eichel?

- ImThatGuy

The Jets have been looking for a good 2C for years though
Scheifele & PLD are a really good 1-2 punch down the middle imo

And Laine clearly wanted outta there for a while
He was gonna get moved eventually regardless

this is the story for how many years now?
- homiedclown

Sure
Same can be said for goaltending though too
It’s not 1 or the other imo

I realize you’re being sarcastic here,
but that narrative about Jack not being able to score with another “star” on his line is a weak narrative imo
Jack eventually started scoring well that season
And he will this season too

Never said that. How about just not letting up 4 goals to a depleted Washington team missing 4 of their top 6 skaters.
- ImThatGuy

Pretty sure it was 3-3 for 65 minutes. And guess you missed the penalty kill in OT where Ullmark was standing on his head. Cross crease slide with high blocker save on Backstrom from the slot was really nice. Generally a save that isn't made by every goalie in the league.

John Warwow is a Jerry Sullivan clone.

He is an ass that needs to be punched in the face a few 1000 times.

He’s too big for himself right now.

- ImThatGuy

You can say what you want but he seems to be pretty plugged in to both franchises

that's different

sabres lost because they were 0-2 on pp
whiffed on a few wide open nets
and 0-4 in the shootout

Ullmark was decent last night
Not terrible, not great

I think he’s a low end starter quality guy (so far)
We’ll see if he improves on that throughout the year- obviously he’s dealing with some tough stuff in his personal life right now though, and that could affect him

The Hall-Eichel-Reinhart line is one of the best lines in the league analytically.

The Sabres as a team right now are the unluckiest team in the NHL in terms of expected goals versus actual goals.

Skinner-Lazar-Sheehan also scores very well analytically

I think replacing one of those bolded guys with Cozens & we could see some consistent scoring with that line

I’d say Jack is both a playmaker, and a goal scorer

I think he can be a 35+ scorer, and still get 100ish points total

Datguy - keep up your consistent posts. It's almost impossible to be wrong as often as you.

Let's interrupt one of my posts and talk about facepunchers.

60% of the games this season a Sabres player has been clobbered in the face.

Let's get them on the scoreboard. The league will take care of the punishment part - am I rite ?

Guys like Andrew Peters don’t contribute to wins
And the threat of him didn’t prevent Drury or Miller from getting clobbered either

Time to try something different. Maybe a pylon?

Eichel- sam not getting it done.

I really like sam with oloffson, so he can set him up.
Sam with cozens? Sam with skimmer?

Cozens should be on the 1st line or oloffson.
Both have showed well this season - so far

Bet we see something different tomorrow on line 1.

I was more responding to that our goalies haven't made high danger saves. Last year after the collapse that's true. This year they've been above average and that was just one example. Are they hasek in his prime? No. But Buf fans have been spoiled with solid goaltending that anyone who isn't the next hasek sucks. Ullmark is a low end starter high end back up and Hutton is gone next year or sooner. Is what it is, but they haven't been the problem thus far imo

I like skinners effort this season. Keep playing him down in the line up. S-L-S line

I agree with homie, seems like we're getting unlucky.

Skinner for sure, eichel needs to shoot the puck.
He wants to get other guys going, but his shot is deadly.

Hall/ eichel/ olo or cozens

Dude you have a weird infatuation with me.
I’m just not into that but I’m flattered.

Also I assume if we had John Scott and his team would be undefeated currently?

How about ryan Reeves, tom wilson and pat maroon?

3 guys I've liked prior, to their stanley cup success.

Hard to continue to argue that the Sabres aren't soft.
Why wouldn't you want them to be tougher?
I just dont get it? Its entertainment? It's the opposite of what we have been doing for years . (While losing) for years.

5 games, 3 cheap shots.
Staal, dahlin and glutton.

No one is asking for Hasek though
We want “good” goaltending
And yes, your example was a great save by Ullmark
But overall, we haven’t even gotten “average” goaltending unless u just cherry pick small sample sizes

Dude look around the NHL and stop watching just Sabres game cheap shots happen nearly every damn game in the NHL doesn’t give a crap about it and having ““ enforcers doesn’t stop players from doing it.

Sidney Crosby‘s career was nearly ruined because of a cheap shot Edmonton is complaining McDavid is getting run Toronto is complaining Matthew is getting run.

Until the NHL decides it wants to protect its players this is not going to change and it is not a buffalo problem
