Datguy - you are very consistent with your posts. None of them make any real sense.

Impressive to be wrong day in and day out. šŸ‘

Very consistent though....

Itā€™s up to Hall too though
I donā€™t think heā€™ll wanna stay if we miss the playoffs

Just another terrible HOCKEY post by me though

- jdfitz77

I actually agree the Sabres want to keep him here for a long time.

Itā€™s 5 games in off a long layoff. I donā€™t think heā€™s judging how good or bad Buffalo is yet.

Like maybe we just donā€™t play the capitals anymore

Right, but who would have thought that he would come here in the first place? As much I hate him, he seemed to have come for the coach and familiarity. I wouldn't discount that next year.
- Slump Buster

Itā€™s different to sign a 1year deal here to give it a chance, than it is to commit long term though

I hope youā€™re right, but Iā€™ve got my doubts
Heā€™s been on sooooooo many losing teams-
I think he wants a shot at a winner

It doesn't make sense though...adding one player with an extra year and a big salary
- Stripes77

Miller's salary plus Ullmark's salary next year would be roughly equal to MAf's salary ($3.8 + $3.2 currently). UPL is also cheaper than Hutton. That's why I think they'd let Ullmark walk and play UPL behind him.

Would MAF really waive to come here? He has his rings and he is comfortable where he is (not to mention a chance at more rings). Why would he leave?
- Slump Buster

Yeah I dont get that part. But we've seen players have different reasons for their lists

And i donā€™t think heā€™s made up his mind yet,
but my post said ā€œif we miss the playoffsā€

Hall could be like matt moulson?

Not what you are thinking....

Didn't matt get traded here for vanek, then get moved at the deadline, then re-sign here?

Maybe we resign hall after he goes elsewhere.
Overpay him
Then send him to Ontario California and pay him nhl $

It's bad cap management unless the Sabres are getting a sweetener

2 players out for the Sabres for one player in...

$7 million player with term

Maybe we "dangle" the "C" after we trade eichel?

We trade okposo and Hutton for maf this year.
Then eichel, because he's astronomically worse than McDavid for okposo and a face puncher?

Datguy recap:

Glutton + okposo = maf

Everybody waives there contracts, because they aren't worried about winning or kids schooling and such.

Then eichel who cant carry McDavid jock for :
Okposo and ryan Reeves.
Hall resigns and becomes captain

I read capfriendly wrong. Ullmark is $2.6 not $3.2

But the math for next year would be

Out -

Hutton: 2.75
Ullmark: 2.6
Miller: 3.8

- $9.15

In:

MAF: 7
UPL: 778k
Borgen: 1.2

+$9

So it's money in money out, potentially

But if Fleury isnā€™t good,
then we just wasted significant cap space

Vegas has Lehner. They donā€™t need both of our goalies

So two unproven and a 37 year old $7 million goalie

It's not spending money wisely IMO...unless of course Vegas throws something good to sweeten the pot

Laine to Columbus is huge. Finnish GM should be able to seel him on staying long-term and they will pony up the money to keep him around. They desperately needed a superstar. Great trade for CBUS if they can resign him, which should be easy with Foligno, Nash and Savard off the books after this year.

The problem is how he plays under Torts. He bought into playing a more complete game in WPG, so he might not do so bad and he's the goal-scorer Columbus has desperately needed for years now. He just wants to get paid. And he should.
