Did he really?
That surprises me bc they’ve never really had Center depth of note
It’s kind of been lacking actually

Wonder how a line of
Olofsson Sheahan Okposo would work

- Buff36

I could see it as third line

eakin drops to 4th line

Fox would be good for the nhl right?
- Boss34

Like any network, it depends the on-air talent they're willing to bring in and how much money they are willing to put into the product. FOX does a great job with football, baseball and college sports. If they treat it like that, and have some of their higher-end talent covering it, then yes, it would be good.

Joe Buck is an avid St. Louis Blues fan though I am not sure they would have him call games. They did have him call golf. Kenny Albert already calls games for NBC, and also calls NFL games for FOX, so that's a pretty seamless transition. My dream would be to have Gus Johnson call games, but that's incredibly unlikely.

That was 10years ago,
and to my knowledge it didn’t last

Not that he couldn’t play the wing,
I’d bet he could

I think he’s just an older guy still trying to get his legs under him
I think he’ll be ok

Sheahan still skates pretty good supply the forecheck and Okposo is pretty good on the boards, and Olofsson the shooter.

The deal ESPN offered the NHL, even before the 2005 lockout was absurd. They wanted the league to pay the distribution fees, which was unheard of and still is.
- buffalofan19

Exactly, it was a slap in the face to the NHL. Hence the reason we were on Outdoor life for a bit

ESPN+ already shows a bunch of NHL games
They could easily get more involved

- jdfitz77

Those are all just regional games that are redistributed. If ESPN were to get a deal, they would be expected to have their own crew doing most games, which would cost significantly more.

Either way, the possibilities are numerous. I just hope whatever the deal is, more than one company (Disney, FOX, Turner, NBC, etc.) is involved, like every other major sport.

Not much “playmaking” on that line though

Good post.

Fox would probably bring in a younger upbeat angle to the game.

Regardless, it’s easily doable for them
There will be all the guys who do the NBCsports games looking for work

And it in no way “puts the league in trouble” like another poster suggested

I don't know, Okposo is no slouch with passing, if he can stay healthy and Sheahan has had a few years with 20 or more assist.

Honestly, I wouldn't want that. To me, FOX has the best production of all of the major sports networks, top to bottom. Just cover the NHL like you cover Baseball and College Sports and you should be just fine. The NFL is a different animal just because of how much money it brings.

Both mediocre “playmakers” imo
But it could work

Problem is that we need to find cohesive lines ASAP
Cant afford to struggle in that regard

Well that's it, that's why I am worried about Staal, we can't wait 20 games for him to warm up.

Fair, but what choice do we have?

If the answer is to put Cozens at Center,
then I’d just double down & keep Staal at 2C and put Cozens at 3C with Skinner on his wing

We should already be doing that anyways imo

Okposo if healthy can dish the puck, had over 40 assists twice over 30 3 times, had 29 for the Sabres a couple years ago. It's all how his head is.

I don’t think counting his assists when he was playing on a line with Tavares translates to 4years later playing on a line with Sheahan & Olofsson

The old guard of mike milbury. Roenick, type guys needed to go.

Fox might get an ovi or pk88 type star for name recognition.

Just a different feel that fox can bring imo?

I’d rather not put all my eggs in one basket

With Staal & Cozens centering their own lines,
it’s gives us a better chance for production imo

Outdoor life network was a odd mix with the nhl
