No, you're thinking of TNT. Turner and Disney split those rights.

Both teams are required to release an injury report on the Friday before the game.
- buffalofan19

Understand that, but did they have to say he cleared, or could they have kept him as Questionable.

WOAH

NBCSN likely shutting down at the end of this year.

That’s major implications for the NHL. Gary has some serious work to so. The league could be in trouble.

I think, actually more like hope, this is a sign the NHL is done with exclusive rights TV contracts. The mantra since 2005 has been that the NHL "needs" ESPN. That's not true. What they need is simply more exposure, and not just one family of networks controlling distribution. If the NHL signs a deal where they are on both FS1 and USA, with one of FOX or NBC hosting the Stanley Cup, depending on who's willing to pay more, they should be in okay shape TV wise.

Did he really?
That surprises me bc they’ve never really had Center depth of note
It’s kind of been lacking actually

Goaltending is even more important than secondary scoring imo
And i get that you’re hopeful that the goaltending will be good enough, but there just isn’t a track record of success there by any means

- jdfitz77

These next 2 games will definitely tell where the problems lie as I would expect even as a worse scenario a split. No better time to face the Caps then now.

You know the league was going to approve Mahomes, healthy or not, for the ratings.
Allen/Mahomes sells more ads than Henne/Allen

He's also 22 and not a finished product yet.

I wonder about Ralph's system and how much the goaltending inadequacies play into it.

Would he and the players be more aggressive offensively if they felt more confident in the ability of their goaltenders to make tough saves?

- kingcong39

Bingo! Spot on Korab!
If they could swing a PLD trade, retain Cozens AND execute a trade for Kruemper...then that should give them virtually everything they need to open it up more...play more like Lindy opened it up in 2005...have their Dmen join the rush become trailers etc.
Cozens could mold himself into a shutdown 3C

Do it KK, do it!

ESPN has been trying to get hockey back for a while. They snubbed the NHL so the NHL has been snubbing back but makes sense now

Agreed
I’m not worried about it whatsoever

Worst case scenario is that the games shift to USA
And that’s not even a bad thing

I agree it’s a great time to face the Caps

I disagree that 2 games is a big enough sample size to tell us much

at some point it's time to mix it up, as well as the "third" line

hall/eichel/skunk
skinner/cozens/staal
olofsson/casey-asplund/reider-okposo
reider-sheahan-asplund/eakin/lazar-okposo

would probably have to use asplund on pk if sitting one of the others out, but he played it well in rochester

Gonna be hard to fit PLD & Kuemper
We’d have to ship out some salary for sure

It won't even be the worst case scenario. The TV deal is up after this season. I would be willing to bet a significant amount of change that another network will be in the mix this time around, which is a good thing...as long as it's not a high-tier cable channel.

Also, I wonder if one of the streaming services will be in the mix as well.

The guy that broke the story is saying he believes NBC and FOX will split the rights.

The deal ESPN offered the NHL, even before the 2005 lockout was absurd. They wanted the league to pay the distribution fees, which was unheard of and still is.

Doesn't mean you still don't have to get ready for Henne is some ways, did he think he would miss the game, Probably No, still have to prepare differently.
- Buff36

Henne looked good last week for sure.
Ballzy to throw on 4th and 1 with the back up qb.
