Hutton screwed us in Game 1.

PP screwed us in the other 2 losses.

Can’t go 0/4 and 0/5 on the PP and expect to win.

Like you alluded to as well in regards to the 5v5 play we won’t be shooting at 6.8% as a team forever.

I could realistically see our goaltending still screwing us for the rest of the year because it happened last year despite us clamping down on teams very well so hopefully we can bring in a goalie.

- Pegullaville

And like last year, only Hasek is getting us into the playoffs. Score some (frank)ing goals.

A dark horse that nobody is talking about that I could see happen if the Ducks really want to tear things down.

John Gibson.

- Pegullaville

This would be a master stroke. And Anaheim would be god damn foolish to do it.

PLD does not warrant Cozens in return.
- TheSabresTaco

What do you think he warrants in return?

He absolutely would. This guy is a legit #1 center coming into his prime.

That said.... a significant salary would have to go back the other way so that has to factor into this.

Goaltending is the primary reason we are 1-3.
- TheSabresTaco

disagree

in 3 of 4 games we gave up 5 goals

in 4 games we scored 4 even strength goals from guys up front

2 from lazar
1 from reider
1 from skunk

the money is on the scorers, not the goalies

I brought him up the other day

if going after a goalie, I would want a long term proven guy

That's poor logic. So lets say Eichel and Hall scored all of those goals and we still gave up the same amount of goals. Is it then the goalie's fault?

Bottom line - goaltending isn't good enough.

really?

in 2 of the three losses we allowed 5 goals

we played 2 backup goalies and scored 1 goal in both games

if this team is putting up 3 or 4 goals a night we have 3 wins right now, not one

if we had hasek in his prime we are 1-3 with the goals we are scoring

remove the first game when hutton sucked

last 3 games the sabres goalie stats are

1.7 gaa

.935 save %

only goal scored came from risto

the problem starts and ends there IMO lack of 5 on 5 goal scoring

6-4, 2-1. 6-1, 3-0 with an EN. Exclude the Caps game, Hutton and Ullmark let in 5 goals in 3 games.

Edit - I misread your statement. Carry on.

The point I was making originally still holds. I believe the Caps game has made Hutton look poor, and I'd like to see his relative save % / expected GA outside of that Caps game, but I definitely agree, and like I said, the skaters need to absolutely do their jobs and execute.

so you blame the 2 loses on allowing 2.50 gaa and having a .910 save percentage, over not scoring a single goal from the guys up front

again hasek in his prime we would be 1-3 right now

sabres goalie numbers in the last 3 games are much closer to the vezina winning goalie numbers then the league average

Highly debatable

Every time a well known player is moved it's rarely the other teams best prospect that goes the other way.

they don't score that's the problem

1 pp goal from hall
0 goals from eichel

4 even strength goals from the 12 forwards dressed each night

again hasek in his prime, we are 1-3 right now

Two biggest issues with the offense -

Victor Olofsson and Eric Staal being ghosts at EV. And the coach refuses to switch things up with those two

Exactly why the Sabres would lose almost any trade involving Eichel leaving

Anaheim is rebuilding.

May be better to get full value for him now as by the time Anaheim is ready to compete a few years down the line he may not be as valuable.

eakin is not helping either

maybe put cozens as a center now and use olofsson on rw with skinner on lf

drop staal to third line center

Yeah. More than likely however, Eichel would be the caliber player and age that would require the top prospects.

PLD isn't a top 20 center
