Ullmarks father passed away in Sweden.

Sounds like he is going to stay with the team but that was the personal reasons he was dealing with the past week

Yeah, I completely understand the time off.

Kuemper has a career save % of 9.17 and this year is 8.79. His goals against avg this year is 3.63 and career is 2.48.
How does this add up to selling off prospects and picks. It’s probably just me with this opinion but I’d stick with Hutton and Ullmark.
Just as a side note:
Ullmark career. 9.11 and 2.80
Hutton career. 9.10 and 2.67

Ullmark 2021. 9.05 and 2.07
Hutton 2021. 8.99 and 2.66

MAF Is on fire currently.

Try to get him for cheap while he is hot.

See if Vegas will eat some celery?

No thanks
Don’t trust him
He’s old, been declining, bad contract

You’re really gonna base everything on the smallest sample size ever???
Makes no sense

Eichel doesn’t have a goal yet,
should we trade him?

Maybe.
.917 isn't stellar, but above average...w/o looking it up avg seems to be in the .905 - .912 range.
Yet, that doesn't tell the whole story as it misses important context
Like other stats such as Corsi, quality of shots (high/med/low danger) and the system he plays in.

Buffalo's system is focused on D.
I'm not sure of AZ's

What are you basing Kuempers great career on cause I can’t find it. It can’t be on his career stats so maybe a past life? My opinion is he’s no better than what we have.
Speaking of small sample sizes there has been postings say this season was lost already after 2 games.

Fwiw, I'm with you that we need a goalie. He's 30, these last two seasons were the best he's been and it hasn't transferred to this year thus far.

I think part of the issue, selling people on that trade, is the price to acquire. If we're trading likely top10 picks for 30yr old goalies, that goalie better be Hasek-lite. Something DK simply isn't. He's got maybe 2-3 years of starter quality in front of him at best too, so it isn't a long term fix.

Has anyone read or seen anything regarding the 4 Caps who are on the COVID absentee list (no, Garth's blog doesn't count)? I am very curious what they have to do in order to play tomorrow and Sunday? Personal and team discipline is going to play a factor in the standings if these things keep happening to teams.

So on the 2 things you point out:

1: cost to acquire:
-I don’t think it will be top10picks
-Won’t even be 1 top10 pick, as i think he’s the missing piece that gets us into the playoffs
-Also, what about what we could likely LOSE if we don’t acquire him (or another really good goalie)?
Bc if we miss the playoffs again, then say bye to Hall & maybe to Eichel as well

2: how much longer will he be good for?
-he’s signed this year & next, at a very reasonable 4.5mil per- and I’m confident he’ll remain a top10 goalie for that period
-we won’t NEED to have him be our goalie for the next 10years, bc we have UPL coming

In summation....
Here’s what acquiring Kuemper gets us imo:
1- playoffs, which keeps Jack happy & potentially convinces Hall to stay
2- a great bridge to our goalie of the future
3- All for the likely cost of something like a 1st and a decent prospect (Samuelsson?)
4- that actually a LOW COST to get to the playoffs & keep Jack (& maybe Hall), imo

One would think that with the goalie carousel going on some team would have traded for him already or the price is too high. As the season moves along the price does not go down, it will go way up depending on how many teams are in races for playoff spots.
For this reason I’m out.

I get it. I think I just disagree with the premise that this is a playoff team with or without him, so it makes some of that moot. Do you think with him we aren't 1-3? I think we're looking more like a bottom feeder than a playoff contender right now.

We're better, still not good.

I thought you were out bc “Kuemper’s not any better than what we currently have”

Or do u finally admit how good he is?

And i don’t think the price does go up
Goalies are different than forwards or defensemen at the TDL, bc playoff teams generally aren’t looking to upgrade at that position- they’re usually set
The longer they wait to trade him,
the more the price goes DOWN

He still won’t be “cheap” by any means,
but your theory of Hutton & Ullmark getting the job for us has never seemed likely whatsoever

I disagree with you....
but yeah, if u don’t think he makes that much of a difference then of course u don’t trade good pieces for him
