Having to play with 4th line scrubs last year didn't help Gauthier at all. Having legit linemates will help him break out
- TPC

I think his development last year is the reason the team opted to move on from Fast. And this isn't meant to be a "They should have kept Fast" post. I just think we'll all be happy to see the maturity in Gaut's game. He really does have all the tools to be a bigger, faster version of Fast.

Can't forget that it took Fast a couple years on the 4th line to break out.

Thank you, hoping for a big year from my Rangers, Shesterkin, Kreider, Buchnevich and DeAngelo. I hope this is the Year Happy can stay happy, so talented leaves you always wanting more. Good Luck Rangers.

Even though the Isles are tough to beat, I think it's a good team to start the season against. These rookies will be really tested from the get-go. Will be interesting to see how they do against such a defensively sound team
- rrentz

Normally I would expect a low scoring tight checking type of game but with no preseason games and the long lay off I think it could be a wild one or a battle of the goalies. Game on in 8 hours 16 minutes 30 seconds, can't wait.

This is all true.
I think he may have to get used to being in the bottom six, though. At least, I hope he will. Don't forget that we'll have to find a place for Kravstov, too. And, if he ends up coming over, it will be for a spot in the top 9, minimum.

no the lineup...he is starting on the 3rd line

I'm clearly mentally challenged in critical thinking skills.

Then I vote 10 games

It's Gaut's spot to lose, that's for sure. I haven't watched him a ton, but Kravstov's game seems to match more of Kakko and Buch's. That might be a blessing for Gaut, especially if he molds into a Fast-like player (defensively sound, good forechecker, PK)

Nope he is on the 2nd unit
- TPC

Interesting. You almost hope the 1st unit doesn't score so we can watch him on the PP.

Yeah, really no room for him except the 4th line and he would have been paid to much. Great teammate though, I hope he runs Skjei in practice

Why, does it matter if the 1st or 2nd unit scores? As long as they score.

If a lot of guys develop into NHLers, we may soon be in a position we need to make a trade because we can't have a full line-up of Kratsov, Kappo, Buch types of players as they wont thrive on bottom 6 minutes. It's not a bad situation to have strength in a line up. I am curious who would be on the trade block if that were to occur.

You wonder if JD might have some pull here to. He did draft him over what was considered the consensus pick.

The connection is there. And I do not see why we couldn't get it done with the assets we have. My only concern is cap restraints. I do think Strome is a cap and position issue if we acquire Dubios. I don't see Strome as a good 3rd line center on the Rangers.

Yeah well one of Strome or Tony would have to go back for cap reasons

Well that's just it. For some reason, I am not sure Strome is going anywhere, or he would have already. Unless we cough up extra. So how comfortable are the Rangers with coughing up extra just to move Strome.

I would give up Strome, one of Nils, Krav and a 1st rounder to get Dubois

If JD could work it, I believe it would make sense to move two forwards. So Strome, Kravs and 1st would not hurt the Rangers at all. I always like the idea of stock piling talented D and waiting on development.
