4 Reasons why Rangers can finish ahead of Islanders for a playoff spot:

1) Everyone talks about how good the Islanders defense is. Its true, its good. However, people seem to ignore the fact they lost both Boychuk and Toews and are replacing them with a rookie Noah Dobson on the 3rd pair. This is a possible HUGE downgrade from last year that is not being discussed enough.

2) Islanders biggest problem last year was scoring. Not really addressed in the off-season. Unless the Islanders consistently win 1-0 or 2-1, I don't see them making the playoffs.

3) Rangers with their young legs are going to surprise the "older" teams with the compressed schedule. All of our kids can skate so 3 games in 4 nights isn't going to be the problem that other teams will face.

4) Plus we have the better Russian goalie!
