Thoughts about last night.

-Not a bad first NHL game for Romanov, I thought he handled himself well. Just a few moments where he looked like he panicked a bit, but again, building chemistry with his new teammates will go a long way in the upcoming weeks. I thought he looked a bit lost in the 3 on 3 overtime.

-Josh Anderson: I still don't like that contract, but like I said earlier, he's the kind of guy the Habs desparately needed. He was my favorite player last night. Hopefully he's stays off the injured list for a while.

-Nick Suzuki: I was afraid of the sophomore jinx for him, looks like it's not going to be the case. He picked up where he left off this summer. He looks confident with the puck, and handles himself really well in tight areas, even in the corners for a guy that is not that big. High hockey IQ with speed and good hands. He's going to be a good player in this league for a long time.

-Tyler Toffoli: Liked what I saw from him. Nothing flashy, but you can see he's dangerous around the net. Looking forward to him building chemistry with Kotkaniemi.

-Jesperi Kotkaniemi: Looks stronger out there. Consistency is an issue here though. One shift he looks good, the next not so much. Then again, he's only 20 years old, and when the Habs drafted him, most people thought this would be the year he would make his NHL debut. It's already his 3rd NHL season. He really needs to work on faceoffs.

-Jake Evans: Did some good things, but his work in the faceoff circle was brutal. It's probably why he was warming the bench by the end of the 3rd period. Needs to get better.

-Joel Edmundson: Not really impressed, and I wasn't asking for much in his case. I hope we see a Ben Chiarot type of evolution in his case.

As for the others...that fourth line looks fast...but Byron took some headshaking decisions last night. Seemed like Lehkonen was always falling on his ass.

Armia was horrible, but it's only one game.

Completely agree Stinger.

Overall more positives than negatives.

It's too bad about Evans, aside from being terrible at faceoffs, he was fast and playing well.

What a game for our new first line. Things are looking good.

Habs deserved a better fate yesterday. Leafs needed a 5 on 3 with Edmundson having a broken stick and a bounce off the ref to tie it up.

We'll get them next game.

He did draft pretty well and always tended to take the long term franchise strength into account. Probably what got him fired but he left that squad in a good place for the most part
- Takemedrunkimhome

it still angers me that he was fired.

you just need to spend a few winters here to know why I hate it, I think it's a bit more intense than your "beginner's winter" lololl... although so far this year it's been very quiet in terms of snowfall and cold weather here

Did we already talk about how good Romanov looked for his first game in the NHL?

I must say, I my expectations were blown away.

Now it's only 1 game.

But I haven't see this level of confidence and puck control from a young prospect on defense since Subban.

Pretty damn fast too.

Yeah he was good.

I saw two bad changes and one or two time he looked a little lost in the cycle but overall I was very impressed.
