I think based off him being dman of thr year in khl and starting this year on fire. He got to learn to transition to NA hockey (smaller rinks, more physical) but it's encouraging.
And we've seen marincin for years and know how much he absolutely and utterly sucks ass. - burn
The lingering stench that is Martin Marincin, that this guy has actually played so many games, been around so long, AND IS STILL HERE tells you everything you need to know about how galctically bad our d group has been for a so long.

All 5 of those players were great. I remember watching those 3 Games and being scared to death of Canada losing because they easily could've.
The Red Wings got Larionov and Fetisov years later and both could still play very well. But in 1987 they were all in their prime. Both would become part of the infamous "Russian 5" joining Fedorov, Kozlov and Konstantinov.
Bowman put these guys together in '95 and they basically played keep away with their opponents and infuriated them. What a fun time that was for Red Wings fans. Thanks for posting this! 👍

Pretty sure Lehtonen will play for the Leafs. I agree. Even if the transition from the KHL to the NHL isn't easy for everyone... you have to give him a chance.

marincin at 28 years old played in 227 NHL regular season games. he was drafted in 2nd round.
lehtonen at 26 years old played in 0 NHL regular season games. undrafted in nhl.
most likely that marincin is a better player than lehtonen, yes. - MaximusAurelius
you have to include lehtonens other professional experience, KHL is not the NHL, but is a good league.
