Covid is a big reason why they're allowing a taxi squad. Carrying 8 D on the roster and on the cap would be dumb.

I hope they don’t lose anyone on waivers.

Before Provorov was even a possibility to be drafted by the Flyers, Sanheim was our potential number one defenseman of the future. I think keeping Sanheim and Myers together is the best thing you could do for the two young players aand the overall defense. There is no bigger stage then the playoffs and they passed.

I think Braun is gonna end up next to Provorov. I might not like the idea but he’s a vet with the experience to carry that burden.

I like the second PP unit more than the first. Something tells me that first unit is gonna have a right handed stick on the half wall of umbrella. Something that’s never worked for us.

I get what folks like about Sanheim-Myers but even last season Braun missed some games. I just think they could have at least tried one other combo (if you don’t include Provy-Friedman) that may be needed with Provy this season. I guess we’ll see about Ghost.

Well do or die for him this year. Am excited about the future with York to.

Provie sanhiem
York Myers.

If York continues his climb that could be a scary good top4.

I don’t think, nor have I ever thought Friedman is a serious option. In fact the believe Morin has a better shot at becoming a regular on LW then I do Friedman becoming a Flyers regular on defense.

I’m comfortable with what the defense looks like heading into the season but it will need to be addressed before trade deadline or at any point where we feel like playoffs are becoming out of reach.

Ghost and Gus in one line up while Hagg or Braun sits means, only four defensemen on the PK (Provorov, Sanheim, Myers, Hagg/Braun). I’m more than comfortable of saying that Gus and Ghost won’t be in the same line up unless there is an injury.

Thats what I thought (What NC said), but then you wrote:

"Looks like either Braun or ghost are the 7 th d. Guessing Braun but wouldn’t have guessed that two weeks ago."

I read that as Braun sitting out.

Misunderstanding apart, I am really surprised. Braun playing #2 minutes? Or Ghost?

Can you just calm down for gods sake. Let the team play a game or ten. It’s the same every year. Play 20 games and get a good evaluation of your team. Nobody in the NHL had played a meaningful game. Relax little Sheldon

They’re are 56 games this season. This year isn’t like any other season because of the short schedule, players could sit if the organization even smells Covid near their parking lot. If you remember right, the Flyers has a bad start during the 2012-13 half season and a strong second half wasn’t good enough to get them back into the playoffs.

Bill,
Any chance you could share extra thoughts on Farabee? Last year I was watching what seemed to be a smallish player trying to learn the pace of the NHL, and I thought I saw a fair number of errors. I figured this is normal for someone at his stage. But to be playing essentially top line wing at this point, I just don't get it. What are you seeing?

I think he's looked really good in drills -- stronger on pucks, more confident. He's always been pretty reliable in going to the right spots defensively and generally making smart plays with the puck (no one is infallible, and he had a couple relatively brief spells last year when he was pressing). That said, I'd like to see a little more assertiveness in the scrimmages. He hasn't played poorly, just hasn't stood out individually much.

Similar with Frost. Has excelled in drills. Was pretty quiet in the first two scrimmages, apart from one play where he turned rookie Dman Wyatte Wylie inside out. But I thought he had a strong third scrimmage (playing LW in that one).

Thanks, Bill. I'm happy to have the coach put a fire under Voracek -- who seems to really need it-- and even Konecny, by considering Farabee for PP1 and top 3, but if it's for real, wow. Hope he earns puts up real points!

I don't think it has anything to do with lighting a fire under Voracek. The coach is looking for balance in the lineup.

if you are referring to getting PP time or how they fizzled out in the playoffs, I get it. I don't think that is really why however, having 2 units that can score should help the both units with matchups
