Thanks Bill M and congrats to Bill C. Loved his work.

WRT York. I was very impressed and could see him up here in a couple years. It certainly shows you why the org Probably didn’t go Hard after a big ufa prize dman like pietr. They don’t want to block the promising dmen in the system.

Best case scenario was for nisky to stay on 1 more year but they adjusted well by signing Gus. I hope it works out but with our tough div I wouldn’t be shocked if we regress this year. First step, make the dance which is no easy feat.

It would have to be any broadcast team with Jack Edwards. That guy is a clown of the highest order. I was also never a big fan of Milbury.
- MBFlyerfan

Jack Edwards drives me insane and the guy should have been fired many to me a over for his inflammatory comments. Potvin in Florida is bad too (I think he’s still there). Completely brain dead.

I think you are correct. Dorny did color from 1992 to 2006. Hart was doing TV until 1992. They didnt overlap as Hart went to radio at that point.

anyone else remember a poster of Dornhoefer (sp) pointing out all the injuries he's had?

I was a pro Schenn guy myself. Although we ended up getting two very good prospects with those picks it just shows you how long it really takes a prospect to become an impactful player. I want to say we are in a better spot now because of the Hayes signing, probably don’t have JVR which would be nice, but Hayes has fit on this team greatly and provides an element schenn doesn’t. In the end we have just needed to wait for Hart, with our revolving door of goalies we weren’t winning a cup.

have to consider the D in all of this, they needed a rebuild on D, so keeping a Schenn wasn't going to make them a for sure playoff team. youth movement had to happen.

I enjoyed Clement much more when he wasn’t on the Flyers games. He was getting extremely difficult to listen to lately as it sounded like a grown man was orgasming from the tv when the flyers would miss an opportunity. I wish him well

Agree about the D.

They were missing the playoffs/losing in the first round every other season. Having Schenn wasn't really going to make them more of a contender imo. They just weren't one. I think SSB is right that maybe some of the signings don't happen if he's still with the team, but that's about it.

For now, still a fan of the Hayes signing.

Add Bob Errey to that list, complete over the top homer along the same lines as Edwards. Plus he works for the Pens so he is that much more irritating

This should be interesting. I imagine this giant flowchart going in all different directions depending on what decision was made including firing Hextall.
- MBFlyerfan

I actually believe Hextall never should have been fired. You could question how long it was taking to turn things around and some of his moves but he saved us from cap hell.

How much money could Therien have possibly made, to not retain him?

I hate reality interfering with my routine.

I DO like Jon Kincade tho so far but felt bad for Farzetta getting the axe.

I Know its not viewed favorably to listen to WIP but I do. I have for the last 25 years that I've been commuting around the area. Not a fan of Angelo but less a fan of other morning shows so I tolerate it.

I had always thought/hoped Farzetta was the heir apparent there to take over for Angelo and was sad when he left the station for 97.5.

Sure but I look at it this way.

You trade Simmonds in Schenn’s place, you probably still get Farabee and Frost because at the time, Schenn and Simmonds are probably a wash. So you still might sign JvR but I don’t think so. Schenn could do all the things JvR does while we played Schenn at wing. I personally don’t think we sign Hayes if Patrick is truly healthy. If you don’t sign Hayes, we have a clear open center spot for Frost today at a cheaper cost. There is no room for Frost in the top 9 right now.

Schenn really came into his own with the Blues at center as well though. Simmonds trade would have fetched quite a haul at the right time. Is Frost ready? I feel like if he was they’d make room for him through trade or pushing a guy down/press box. I like how things ended up, I think Hayes is a great fit here.

Angelo mentioned this as the primary reason why he decided not to retire. He felt betrayed........

.....Which I why I love Farzetta. I think Cataldi is a rabble rousing carpetbagger who hates hockey and the Flyers.

I wonder if there's bad blood between Spike and Farzetta. I'd love him to come back but then again I still pine for Rob Ellis and Glen Macnow to have regular shows over guys like Giglio or Ritchie.

Again, I won’t argue it. I also look at it this way.

Couturier, Hayes, Patrick, Frost. All top nine centers. All long term players for this team. How do we get Frost in when he is ready and who do we move? I know Hayes can play wing. I feel like down the road we’re gonna have to move a guy we don’t want to move.

Good point. I feel like we have a potential logjam at center with a thin defense by losing Niskanen and having two Ghosts.
