Who else is fired up for the FA Cup 3rd round matches this weekend! Come on Burnley, Up the Clarets!
- countreeman28

Ha ha.

I am dimly aware, fired up would be a lie. I don't watch soccer so much anymore.

I will say this though, So Heung-Min has scored some of the most spectacular goals from outside the box I have seen this season. Any one of them would be a high light goal. But to score so many in similar fashion is nuts.

Ok.. Who is the better all round player Gus or Ghost?

Ghost had a spot in the NHL, but fell back to a bubble player. Whereas Gus, had been a NHL player with no reversion. Ghost has more games under his belt. They've had similar point totals. I believe many are leaning toward Ghost, just because they've seen his best and hope he regains it. I am leaning toward the relatively unknown in Gus.

I don't want to see either play with Provy. Provy needs a more stay at home defensive defenseman - so he can feel free to rome. Previously with Ghost, although Ghost play well, I felt Provy did not play well. This combo forced Provy into a more defensive role. I'd rather Provy play with Hagg. "Hagg, guard the net and I've got everything else"...

No way in hell I want Hagg playing those minutes against top lines. If they keep Meyers and sanheim together I’d like to see the minutes close to whatever Provys pair gets to lighten the load on them. Go with whatever pairing is having a better game and adjust accordingly.

Yes! How sad is it that I can't wait to watch it? My son and I usually got to at least one practice during camp. I really miss it this year.

Hagg wasn't really the point of note... I would not want to see Ghost (probably Gus too) with Provy either. As someone pointed out, the big lines of the competitions would eat Ghost alive (hum, ghost, alive???). Braunn's not a real choice either. We really don't have an option besides Myers.

I believe our PK was really good last year because Carter Hart was our best penalty killer. Nothing wrong with that mind you, in fact its been long overdue on this team, but my point is I didn't think the defense was that great last year, especially when it came to policing the slot area. That is why I was hoping either Morin or Zamula would make the team or the Flyers would sign Chara. None of these are viable options obviously, so I think this will still be an area of concern to watch, especially if Hart's play dips compared to last year.

PK was pretty mediocre last year in playoffs, no?

I don’t think that is true. Myers would be my first choice to pair with Provy, but there are other options. If Ghost has rebounded another option that would put him in the top 4 is Provy-Sanheim and Ghost-Myers. There is really quite a few things depending on who plays. Maybe they carry 2 different 3rd pairings and swap them out depending on the opponent. Just some thoughts.

I vaguely recall that they are channels contiguous to NBC sports at least on Comcast (846-848 in Philly).

I guess my thing is there’s going to be one of those guys in the top 4 whether we like it or not. I’d rather Ghost than Hagg. And splitting some time away from that other top 4 guy would be beneficial.

I’d rather see ghost with Provy, keep Myers and Sanheim then Braun-Haag-Gus rotating depending on who is playing better at the time.
I’m hating the idea of Brain with Provy.

We started going the year they got Jagr. Nothing like standing against the glass watching NHL players. Their skill level is unreal. I think I’d rather watch them do drills than scrimmage.

real question, for those who play in adult leagues, are you still playing? when did you start back up? I sat in March but the leagues opened in July, really little to no cases, would love some feedback? Thinking of starting back.

I haven't played in about a year and a half. If I do I gotta hit the gym. I'm way out of shape and my shoulder is out of whack.

I don't believe any our 2 rinks are open as of now.

If Ghost can be his old self on the PP I could care less if Sanheim/Meyers played on it at all. Totally fine with Provy and Ghost being the two Dmen on the PP
- ClaudeFather

I would expect more than two defensemen seeing PP time and we should care because Ghost and Gus aren’t and shouldn’t be long term solutions.

agreed, Ghost on his game is a better PP1 QB than Provy. I could see Provy taking a step forward this year however, he just has that drive to get better

Their scheme needs tweaks, they have to have a one timer threat besides the point. They need a set play for G or someone. They need to pull the D box up to create a 2 on 1 down low with JVR in front. Just to predictable last season.

- wcorvette

I think there is a lot of living in the past when it comes to Ghost. Ghost’s last really good season was 4 years ago. Gustafsson has had more recent success. I think asking Ghost to play on the top pair against opposing teams’ top players is a lot to ask, along with top unit pp minutes to go with all of that. After a bad season last season, we’d skyrocket him to our number one/two defender? Based on what??

I agree with your pp set up idea.

There is definitely a case to make both ways on ghost. I think they have to give him rope and see what he has, last chance for him.
