I think we are in agreement with overall expectations. My point was you can't set people up to fail as physce is just gigantic in sports. I do agree that you can't keep the training wheels on Chytil forever. However, just throwing him against elite competition just for the sake of doing so doesn't seem productive or a fair representation of how one improved. He could be twice the player and still get smoked by Crosby in a head to head matchup. How would you evaluate his progression? Now if your plan is maybe use him as Zib's PP1 time, then that's a seperate argument that you might be able to sell me on.

I get what you're saying.
But, let's be honest. 98% of the league could get smoked by Crosby head to head. I'm not looking for him (or any of our others) to consistently steal draws from him and Couturier and Bergeron. Just advancement in his game and consistent compete levels.
I basically look at this as one more throw-away season, where we should have a higher basement and ceiling for our guys than last year.

No, I did not, thank you.
I looked at the stats to see how far up the league standings 50% would take us. You seem to think that it would be a given 50% is the median, but it is simply a coincidence.
My point was that while our faceoff prowess is certainly sub-par, in reality we are only 2 faceoff wins per game away from not being on the losing end, statistically. That is not an insurmountable goal.

I am one of the lead dogs on the Chytil doubts, however, at some point we have to see what we have in him.

"Upon arriving on Broadway, Chytil was immediately thrown into the fire lining up between wingers Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich. That reconfigured 2nd line clicked, in 110 minutes of 5 on 5 icetime the trio put up a 63.4 xGF% (via Evolving-hockey.com) and was a bright spot for the Rangers offense that wasn’t the eternally shining Artemi Panarin."

There was clearly some chemistry there between Kreider and Buch last year when Zibanejad was out.

We cant just talk about him and constantly bury the kid. Take the chains off and let it roll. Whats the worst that happens? He ends up back on the third line... oh well. We need to know if this kid has a future here or not.
