Have not seen it discussed, but has the NHL addressed the rosters to account for COVID? Since there is really no bench of available players, and the AHL option for call ups is murky...is there a plan to allow a model like the Black aces, where a team can keep like 6-8 players available to be called up if COVID positives happy? I would hope they have a plan and take the lessons from the NFL.

Didn't think this list was unfair to the Flyers, but this quote told me Coots is still not respected...

Over the last three seasons, Couturier's 166 even-strength points rank fourth in the NHL; only Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Nathan MacKinnon have more.

Whatever Sheldon. The thing is with people like you, your "facts" are anything but. You are just a tool who eats whatever you are fed. You spend the whole day getting punched in the face by these people and stand there trying to convince us you were headbutting their fist the whole time.

Enjoy being in control, that enjoyment wont last because now its going to be a lot harder to blame the other side for your problems. Though I am sure you will try.

Amen, or awomen, or whatever it is you pseudo intellectual clowns think is the most pandering word you can think of.

- MBFlyerfan

Sorry who is "punching me in the face"? These ass-clowns like MJL and Angus? Do you see me getting bothered in the very slightest? Do you get bothered when homeless people in street corners howl at you?

As for my facts being anything but, given that you treat the news as essentially the equivalent of a lullaby from Fox News, we would first have to agree on what "facts" mean.

As for the other side, there is no other side for me. I am an Independent who has vote for many Republicans in my life. When people like Donald Rumsfeld and Richard Cheney start signing letters with Democrats, as happened this week, the "side" issue is truly a "side issue".

But why am I not surprised a man of your towering intellect is unable to see this distinction? Once you up your standards, and grow a pair of balls, and manage to come out of your cocoon of whining defeatism and denial, which largely consists of essentially believing the whole world is a conspiracy mediated through bleach and inflated covid infections and the like, perhaps you would look at a mirror for the legacy you will entrust to your daughter, instead of mouthing off to me.

As for being fed, of course, its that old dude Soros who feeds me. And today, it will be the cheesesteak from Angelo's.

I am giving myself a treat and breaking my fast, bruh.

Anything else?

i critiqued where you said to take out appearance and the way someone sounds in the first part of the interview. i thought that was completely ridiculous. still do.
- Ftown19125

I am not saying its perfect.

But without taking away how someone "sounds and looks", please tell me how you would address the issue at hand, which is that women who do these sideline interviewing stuff in hockey tend to disproportionately skew of a certain visual type.

That skewing tends to be self-perpetuating. Only women who look like that gravitate towards such jobs.

Until you acknowledge there is an issue here, we may be disagreeing not really on my remedy but whether at all there is one necessary.

Pretty much everybody! Yes, guys like me absolutely bother you. To a great deal. The evidence of that is how much you reference me! It's a dead giveaway. You don't confront me because you cower in a corner. You can only respond with insults and stupid analogies to those who best you.

It's not an issue. I mean I'm balding and overweight. I wanted to be a model but they won't let me. I told them to disregard my looks and let a fat bald middle age man live out his life's dream of being a Tommy John underwear model. This is a huge problem. We need to acknowledge it.

Nice...This was the section i was referring too...lots of similarities to our state of affairs today...

This vineyard will belong to the bank. Only the great owners can survive, for they own the canneries, too. And four pears peeled and cut in half, cooked and canned, still cost fifteen cents. And the canned pears do not spoil. They will last for years.

The decay spreads over the State, and the sweet smell is a great sorrow on the land. Men who can graft the trees and make the seed fertile and big can find no way to let the hungry people eat their produce. Men who have created new fruits in the world cannot create a system whereby their fruits may be eaten. And the failure hangs over the State like a great sorrow.

There is nothing preventing this man/woman being weeded out in the 2nd interview/screening, is there?

As I mentioned, Fishtown, it really was too deep for you. You thought that statement an insult. But I meant no rancor. It was actually a (clinically accurate) diagnosis.

Also, next time around, perhaps you will consider making your own points instead of snickering encouragingly at those made by others by way of debate? Both the nature of the others and the 2nd hand participation is so puerile, don't you agree?

I believe we are done here then? I am composing a tribute to The Donald, which I will post somewhere on HB soon, and I need to get back to it.

Ok, but he was referring to a song in the post you replied to with a ?.

Google the words. I just found it.

Also, by quoting anything more profound beyond "your mom" and the like, you have committed the dastardly act of elitism.

How dare you, sir.

You're oblivious that you just tried to convince others that you headbutted their fist when you were repeatedly punched in the face. Metaphorically of course.

Aren't we getting close to the time when you will make another pronouncement that you'll be leaving HB?

I personally think Couturier is more respected now than Giroux has been his entire career. At least Couturier has seen a Selke trophy.

Giroux wasn’t selected for Team Canada even after career seasons. Wasn’t dominated for the Hart the season he had 102 points for second overall that season in points.

Moving forward, not only do I want Nolan Patrick to be the next focused center for the Flyers, I want league wide respect for him. I’m hoping he might be the next Jamie Ben. I’m hoping this is a fair, reachable comparison.

Sorry, I don't understand.

But you did ask me what *I* was advocating.

- PT21

Bold- wow! Yeah, that’s crystal clear.

I’m not sure how best to get you to gain understanding here.

First, you have conveyed that at least on a national level, most women in broadcasting have a similar profile. You have finally admitted that is because that is also the primary type who applies for those positions. You do not for some reason unknown to me understand that by criticizing them, you are promoting further limits on women in sports.

Also, I did ask you what you were advocating for by asking you to list 4 qualifications you feel are most important or “must-haves.” Instead, you gave us whatever that was...interview process experiment. Please think of 4 things that you would look for in a prospective hockey broadcaster and tell me what you are thinking.

Playing experience not required? List four must-haves.

Along the same lines, why is that only good looking people pursue a modeling career? So self-perpetuating.

First para:

Once again, I am not criticizing women in sports coverage. I am criticizing the ubiquity of certain kind of women in coverage.

The Eagles tend to not pick linebackers in the first 2 rounds. If I criticize this practice, am I really putting barriers to picking linebackers at all? Because that is what you are saying. (I am saying they should still pick linebackers, but also in the first rounds).

Think a little, man.

2nd para:

I have already given you both a description and a method to select women in a way that will lower the priority on their looks. I am a little confused with why you keep wanting me to provide these 4 things.

Underlining and italics used instead of bolding this time.

Think Behn has a lot more snarl to his game but I would be ok with a David Krejci type with the injuries sustained to date be the major issues for the remainder of his career

I am sure the first two are wonderful and hard working people Bill, but those attributes, and their gender, was never the original point raised (as those who have the most rudimentary reading ability surely would have discerned).

There are zillions of women with those attributes. When was the last time you saw a woman break in to tv sports journalism who is not all of the 3:

1. Cute. 2. Young. 3. White.

Answer: never.

On an related note, hats off to Red Sox for the hire announced today.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/...ach-professional-baseball

And the analytics team of the Kraken is led by Alexandra Mandrycky, and also has a young Asian woman who is a rising star in the field, who could have easily gone on to work for Wall Street, btw, so stellar apparently was her academic record and mathematical ability.
