Unrealistic but I do agree completely - Takemedrunkimhome
I don't see it as letting millionaires play while we can't do anything, but more as letting fans watch the game they love while they're confined. but yeah I understand the counter-argument |

Bread and (frank)ing circuses. I'm not interested in promoting government sanctioned distractions even if they align with my personal interests.
The concept of fairness is unrealistic and even naive but the nut's point, in an egalitarian sense, is spot on. No chance it'll happen but that doesn't mean it isn't correct. |

that's why I was saying I understood that perspective. but the "bread and circuses" analogy would truly be applicable if hockey was used to distract us while the government's plan is to control the population using the lockdown as an excuse, which I don't think is the case

I apologize if it came across as an attack, not my intent. That said, have you seen over the last 9 months governments giving themselves powers they didn't have prior to the pandemic? Do you anticipate them giving up those powers easily after the pandemic? I have very little faith in elected officials in the best of times and until proven otherwise I'm inclined to believe they'd prefer to keep us distracted rather than deal with a potential revolt. Just my two cents. |

3 predictions for the shortened season:
1. Habs will have 2 players score 25 goals (Gallagher and Anderson)
2. Habs will allow the fewest goals against in the Canadian division
3. Suzuki will be a point a game player

oh, it didn't feel as an attack either, no worries
and I might be naive, but yeah I do expect these special "powers" to be taken down once it's all over. and the revolts are still happening, hockey or not |

Imagine this whole pandemic, no summer hockey/basketball/baseball, no football this fall, no ufc all along, no NCAA, no WJC and no NHL coming...which would be the proper choices based on public health guidelines and in fairness to the rules imposed on the rest of us. Imagine that scenario, the full scale revolt likely would have gained steam at a minimum. Again just my opinion.
Also I've never seen a politician willingly give up any power, whether they're supposed to have it or not and I don't expect that to change this time around. Hope I'm wrong but letting millionaires make their money while concession staff, hoteliers, bar and restaurant owners etc who make their money as an offshoot of the pro sports go bankrupt and drift into poverty isn't right in my eyes |

KarineHains: The New Look Habs Take the Ice
For this first time this season, the new look Habs took the ice in Brossard and there weren’t many surprises in the lines that were on display. - Karine Hains
I read the whole article and earlier a piece on fansided/a winning habit...there is no mention of Juulsen? I expected him to surprise all by catching the right spot on the third pairing. Is he with the team?

I think the current circumstances would be enough to have a full-scale revolt if it were to happen, it's just that we've decided to make sacrifices as a society to get rid of the pandemic quicker. the way things were managed though is very questionable, and a lot of bad decisions were taken... that being said, there are still thousands of people out there who refuse to wear masks, will refuse to take the vaccine, or even refuse to accept the very existence of the virus. it might not be "full scale", but an important number is manifesting itself |

i am so sick of people. just shut up. do the right thing. the more people resist the worse it gets.
CDC. do not travel for the holidays. keep your bubbles small. the public says bite me to that.
meanwhile, since thanksgiving, cases have exploded. 3000 people a day are dying. LA is so bad they are now telling EMT to not even bring people to the hospital who they feel won't survive.
and there are still people thinking its all a (frank)ing game. |
