Any player in NHL making $1.5 is not a big deal to me... it's like when everyone went nuts when we signed Mayfield for 1.45 .. Leo is an issue b/c he makes $3 mill a year.

We need the top 6 to be the teams biggest advantage. The 4th line is not getting us past Tampa. All these deals add up and hurt the Cap. I probably did not love the Mayfield deal but he was a lot younger and a dman with size. Barry and his system has deal the deal look a lot better.

The team he put together worked. I’m over the deals Lou signed two summers ago. I think that discussion has been best to death on here.

Those three players alone comprise more salary and term then toews. If Boychuck didn’t retire we would’ve been absolutely (frank)ed. That gave us some space to utilize it this way is to me stupid. Can’t wait to see the Kuhnackl contract numbers

Islanders have to start prioritizing skill. It cannot just be about grit. Islanders leave themselves very little room for error without more talent. It's a lot of pressure on the D and goalies. You have to be able to win playing any style and the offense is lacking.

Martin was great in the playoffs I’ll be the first one to say it. I like the guy. I’ve been a fan of his since he started with the team. Martin was great in the playoffs but how much can the 4th have left at this point? Casey already cannot stay healthy. Cal still feel numbness in his left hand. NHL is a different game now. You just do not see this type of 4th line anymore. It's pretty bad when even during a Pandemic Lou is throwing out 4 year deals to MM. It's just not good business and why do you need both MM and Ross? I hate the idea Leo might be on the 3rd line with Pageau.

I’m a Martin fan also but the guy shouldn’t have been resigned for multiple, blatantly obvious, reasons let alone for four years. That is a laughably bad contract signed at a premium for a player like Martin when star quality players are in some instances being paid half of what they’re worth right now. Complete joke no other way to look at it. Brassard being signed for less for one year makes it even more laughable

I must admit, the length of that contract leaves me speechless. On the other hand, Lou has made me a believer, and I am still enjoying the Isles' first deep playoff run in more than a quarter century. I'm thinking Lou has maybe inserted some sort of "out" clause in the contract, so that, if necessary, MM gets jettisoned to Robidas Island or front office retirement like a certain back-up goalie who shall remain nameless.

I might have flagged this one by mistake Cpt. There is very little sense to this deal. Does not mean Lou should be fired or the Islanders have no hope. I'm just thrilled Barry is coaching. He is worth every penny and should have gotten a 15 year deal.
