CF% isn't gonna tell the whole story man, especially with Quinn spending a lot of his time with Cozens when the other team has pulled the goalie. Of course they're gonna have more shots against. You're gonna need a lot more than looking at CF% to evaluate how a guy is playing, especially with the sample size on that Zary - Byfield line.

For the role he's been in I think he's been good. Nothing spectacular like Cozens, but not Michael Frolik of Canada as some have said.

- RawDog

This was a joke because Frolik only scored an empty netter as a Sabre

Good grief he was the 8th overall pick for (frank)s sake

Quinton Byfield who was picked 2nd is getting criticism for not being all that great and he’s had a 6 point game and is 11 months younger than Quinn.

The dude is a goal scorer who hasn’t scored a goal.

We have a guy who’s made a nice stretch pass and a couple of stick checks though. Phenomenal

- sbroads24

The dude is a two way forward and always has been. Anyone who tells you he's just a goal scorer has never watched him play. Scouts have always compared his style to Mark Stone for poop sake. Doesn't seem like you're that familiar with Quinn.

Neither are the opposing goalies.

Dylan Cozens was 7th in scoring in the world juniors last season, in his D1 season, who's also a "two-way player".

The difference between Cozens last season, and Quinn this season is night and day.

They were picked one spot apart

You might want to check on all those goalies in the OHL where he had the most goals in a draft year since Tavares. All that while also excelling defensively. But damn shouldn't he have like 10 goals by now in juniors while playing 12 minutes a game.

Yes, he scored a lot on lesser competition

Tomasino, Mercer, Zary have looked much better in less minutes.

No way Zary has looked better. He's struggled with physical play and has turned it over a bunch. I'd put Tomasino on par with Quinn's play and Mercer better than those two so far.

No that was Rossi. Quinn had similar production against bottom & top teams in the OHL.

If you were a coach who would you put your best defensive line against ?

The Eichel line or the Staal line ?

So with a stacked Ottawa 67’s lineup who do you think saw the tougher minutes ?

Rossi’s top line or Quinn’s 2nd line ?

What does this even mean?

Quinn has done Richard in this tourney, and had 31 less points in Ottawa this year.

With how often line changes happen a coach can’t get those ideal matchups consistently over the course of an entire game. Both Quinn & Rossi faced opposing teams best defensive lines. Only one massively under performed against better teams though.

Rossi also had superior linemates too. Quality of teammates is way more important. Go ask Jeff Skinner.

Jesus Christ

You mean like Quinn is doing now?

Oh that’s right he’s a good back checker and set up a 2 on 1 that one time

It's not that hard to understand man.

Rossi: Above .500 = 1.45ppg / Below .500 = 2.96ppg

Around 70% of Rossi's production came from lighting up bad teams. He underperformed against good teams.

Quinn's production was constant no matter who he was playing

Quinn: Above .500 =1.47 ppg / Below .500 = 1.55ppg

Evaluating players is a little bit more than just looking at a box score.

Wait, so one of these is massively underperforming?

There .02 off

And Rossi almost doubled his production against below .500 teams.

What is this proving exactly?

He’s underperforming. I wouldn’t say massively

You have to do some serious mental gymnastics to say he’s playing at the level that should be expected of a top 10 pick getting good ice time on a stacked team.

Alright I'll take this slow with you. Rossi's production went from a 2.96ppg to a 1.45ppg. That's a 1.51ppg DROP in production against good teams.

Quinn produced at a slightly higher rate than Rossi against good teams and only had a .08 drop in ppg compared to playing against bad teams.

We can also go over the WJC since such a small sample size is so important to you. Rossi has had 0 points in 4 games. Quinn has 5 points in 6 games. I know you're gonna say RoSsI wAs On A bAd TeAm DuDe, but Stutzle who's also on a bad team has 10 points in 5 games. Rossi continues the trend of underperforming against good teams.

He’s probably going to score the golden goal because that’s usually how it works.

The guy the nation poops on the whole tournament, or the guy nobody’s heard of always plays the hero

It’s not even remotely comparable to mention Germany and Austria in the same sentence. Not even close. That’s a laughable comparison.

As far as your math. Thanks for taking it slow and proving absolutely nothing again. Rossi and Quinn produced the same against good teams and Rossi murdered bad teams. That’s what players usually do

You know, like how Canada scored a ton against the lesser teams. You get how that works, right?

Of course, I hope he scores a bunch.

IMO, if he goes 7 games, in a good tournament without really even looking like a goal scoring threat, it's a red flag.

I didn't like the pick. Thought they reached, which happens often with a rookie GM at his first draft
