I don't think they will ever go full soccer and have sponsors on jerseys
- Stripes77

To go with what Buffalofan19 said, I could definitely see them going the NBA route, as the NBA jerseys have an add on them, but it's barely noticeable and tastefully done.

It's the new bad GM who likes Girgensons.

The old bad GM, and the bad GM before him, and the bad one before him liked Risto, so maybe we trade Risto there, although the new bad GM might also like Risto.

By new bad GM, you mean Pegula, right?

Sorry, new bad regime.

I don't know the pecking order anymore.

I don't buy that Adams has much control so probably Pegula and or Krueger

Teams already are having ads on helmets.

Washington has Capital One, which doesn't look too offensive.
Most if not all the Canadian teams have Scotiabank.
Pittsburgh has PPG paints and Ryan Wilson hates it (check out his blog).

As far as ads on helmets and the naming rights for the divisions for this year go:

There was talk of teams opting out, there was talk of not having a season.

So if I have to see a small logo on a helmet or someone is playing in the Honda Division I really don't care.

As long as there is hockey being played they could be wearing the Geico lizard costume for all I care.

I am glad they are playing.

The NHL needed a way to recoup some money they are going to lose this season (and last for that matter)

Alright, that’s fair.

Dylan Cozens being top 5 all time in scoring for Canada means nothing

JJ Peterka looking excellent means nothing

Jack Quinn having 5 (frank)ing shots on goal in 6 games means nothing

As long as we’re consistent

That's my thing about ads. If they don't look intrusive, then I don't mind them. Ads on the boards in hockey rinks are barely noticeable, or at least we are just used to them. The Chipotle ads on Team USA's helmets and shoulder patches are a little worse, but I find myself noticing for the first few minutes and then forget about them. If ads are similar to soccer uniforms, where they simply just look part of the jersey, then the NHL will be fine. If it goes all Euro hockey league, where they try to patch on as many ads as possibly, regardless of color scheme, it will be a mess.

You're right.

Byfield is an example. He's been almost invisible for a top 3 pick outside of one game

But usually there are reasons, and they at least show flashes (Like a 6 point game)

Byfield would've been 17 when drafted had it taken place in June. He's one of the youngest guys in the tourney.

Quinn is not one of the youngest, and hasn't shown any flashes really. What are we missing?

My mindset is basically, I didn't like the pick and he's done zip to change my mind yet in his first big opportunity. Hopefully he's great.

But what I think doesn't matter

Of course. I’d say outside of 1-2 periods every game of the tourney

He hasn’t been bad, and he hasn’t been good.

He’s been a guy, who was touted as a great goal scorer, with no goals besides an empty netter.

He’s the Michael Frolik of the Canadian world juniors

Didn't back read, but was it mentioned that John Muckler died ? That's awful news. Always liked the guy, even after he wasn't with our team any longer.

So did you have your eyes closed during the really good defensive play and the numerous breakaways / one-timers he set up? It's not his fault his coach is using him as a defensive forward this tourney and he's been playing that role very well. That's what happens when you have such a stacked team. Not everyone can be the triggerman on the PP.

He’s made 4-5 nice plays this tourney. Over 6 freaking games on a loaded team (you realize that means he plays with good teammates against weaker competitors)

He’s the 8th overall pick who’s 19 years old for god sakes.

Ryan Johnson, picked 31st who is the same age has been more impressive than Quinn and it’s not even close.

Dude you called him the Michael Frolik of Team Canada. He's made great plays every game. One of the best defensive forwards on Canada and a really underrated playmaker. I get you wanted someone else in the draft, but it seems you're just poopting on him to poop on him.

I wonder how you'd be treating Rossi right now if we drafted him with his big disappearing act in the tournament.

Newhook-Cozens-Quinn line: 62.5 CF%
Newhook-Cozens-Holloway line: 80.0 CF%

Quinn-Byfield-Pelletier line: 60.6 CF%
Zary-Byfield-Pelletier line: 84.0 CF%

Quinn has been good defensively for both teams.

Stops other teams from scoring and prohibits his other line mates from maintaining possession and therefore trying to score themselves.

He had a nice assist on a Byfield goal against Germany. Had a nice ally oop pass to set up a breakaway.

He’s been ok.

Nothing more nothing less.

Good grief he was the 8th overall pick for (frank)s sake

Quinton Byfield who was picked 2nd is getting criticism for not being all that great and he’s had a 6 point game and is 11 months younger than Quinn.

The dude is a goal scorer who hasn’t scored a goal.

We have a guy who’s made a nice stretch pass and a couple of stick checks though. Phenomenal

CF% isn't gonna tell the whole story man, especially with Quinn spending a lot of his time with Cozens when the other team has pulled the goalie. Of course they're gonna have more shots against. You're gonna need a lot more than looking at CF% to evaluate how a guy is playing, especially with the sample size on that Zary - Byfield line.

For the role he's been in I think he's been good. Nothing spectacular like Cozens, but not Michael Frolik of Canada as some have said.
