Quinn had a couple of Turovers but also is one of the youngest guys on Canada. He needs to add weight. I’m interested to see how Lundell looks can the US tonight, he was really good vs Sweden. We may regret not taking him

Quinn has good positioning defensively and that can translate to the pros.

He has left a lot to be desired offensively though. I know I personally wanted to go in a different direction with the 8th pick, and there may be bias involved, but I’ve tried to be as impartial as possible.

Right now he looks like the kid who made the team because his OHL coach is the coach.

I look forward to him hopefully proving me wrong though.

I truly like him if we were picking in the mid-1st as a character middle six winger who could probably play with Jack as well, but at the 8th pick with who was there it was a moronic choice

Something we can agree on.

Quinn can play the “Sobotka” role so to speak but has the shot that can convert the chances created by others.

Perhaps there is some untapped potential there. Adams probably saw Pasternak, I see more Toffoli/Oshie if all goes well.

who was supposedly ranked around 15 (7 spots higher difference)

But now you’re calling him a late1st/early2nd (split the difference & say 31st), and you’d have been ok picking him in the mid1st (around 15th),
which would be roughly 16spots higher

You're talking about applying analytics to 18 year olds. If a 9th pick turns into an all-star at all, it's a surprise.

These were the #6 and #7 rated NA skaters. It's not nearly as egregious as you're making it out to be.

Again, it is if you trust the numbers. And he’s only the 9th pick because of how short he is.

The consensus ranking of Rossi and Quinn amongst multiple sources isn’t remotely close to being the 6th and 7th skaters. Rossi was consensus top 7 by legitimately every scouting source. That’s not close to the case for Quinn

The analytics worked for The other skaters listed.

All 8 of them listed were given high probabilities of being “stars” by this ranking and the worst of the bunch is probably Laine.

That’s fine, I think it’s the closest these kids get to NHL competition until they’re actually there.

And you’re right it can be misleading, but Quinn hasn’t done anything to change my mind either

The big difference is that Cozens is physically ready to play in the NHL. Most of the time, you're left questioning their strength or speed.
