This definitely stinks for the NYI organization. I’m not letting JHS off for any part he’s played in this saga so far. But you can’t say that a kid is behaving immaturely and then the organization/GM then behaves such that the only likely conclusion that can be drawn is that there is a vendetta.

As JHS said, it’s because he is Black. No other explanation can be drawn. The kid has been nothing short of being the perfect prospect. Just ask him.

I like the idea of him not being invited to camp. What the F has he done to deserve it ? Once the season starts, and he's shown to be reliable, playing the system, then he could be called up. He can never play for us again, and I wouldn't care. But if he's somehow matured, he'd definitely be an asset i think 🤷🏻‍♂️

Show us you have grown up Josh, and you want this and will work for it.

A lot of players came to the Island once the new season was announced. Did Josh come to get a jump on training camp and show management he wanted this? I don’t know but something tells me, no he didn’t.

Everyone on this thread who was completely mature, without fault/transgression and mistake-free at age 20,22,24 please raise your hand and share your wonderful story with the rest of us simple folk. We had a robot named Tavares. Oh, he was dreamy and sooo perfect.

Where is the broken law, accusation, or story of him embarrassing the organization? What's the inexcusable situation that keeps him from getting a fair shot but not worthy of his dismissal? I'd rather see some new blood vs. the veteran plugs of Komorov, Brassard, Khunackle and the myriad parade of has-beens & never-were's stretching back to Tavares' rookie season.

It's not that simple....we are not getting paid ridiculous amounts of money. If I were, I would do whatever my boss asked. Being a spectator, I am allowed to do what I want, when I want...I am not owned ( so to speak ).he's 100% allowed to be an individual, doing what he wants, but he has consequences

100% agree, and the consequences of not being coachable or not being a team player means you don’t play. It’s that simple. That said let’s go with the race card, it’s the thing to do these days

Edit: Wow Levi, Canada’s goalie is crazy good. In a class by himself for his age.

Jesus Christ, your team just made the conference finals. What a ridiculous take.

What do you know about the path to becoming an NHL player? Same for anyone here? Alot of dedicated fans but who have tasted the lives or experienced what these guys go through.

Ridiculous money? This is the NHL. NOT the NFL or NBA or MLB. $700K isn't ridiculous. It's "doing-well" but by no means "rich."

I dont disagree with discipline or earning your stripes but there is a breaking point.
If you get drafted in the first round (or two) you've probably played a F-ton of youth/jr/major junior hockey and that is a level of dedication imposed on players and their families that no one here knows.

I am as happy and grateful for Malkin/Ledecky & Lou/Barry at the helm but this whole situation is a circle-jerk, at best. He isn't getting the invite to camp because he will out-perform a number of other players and the Isles will look foolish if they don't play him based on his talent. They're holding a grudge for reasons unknown.

The obvious answer is most always the right one. We don't need Perry Mason, here folks.

I agree.

Imagine if they didn't waste time & energy on dumb sh!t?

Or played the most talented players and gave their team the best chance to win?

Isn't that what they always say?

You are out of touch with reality if you think $700,000 isn't a lot of money. I almost make 50,000, and am living. For that, I'll give you a big 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻

It’s not just about talent. It’s about playing a team game. There’s more then just being able to dangle the puck.
So let me get your take on this, the Isles know JHS is talented and will be a great NHL player but instead of giving him a chance ( his 4th or 5th by my count) and being an asset to the team they are not going to let him play? Is that correct? If so why?
