at 700-800k would you care?

Cap wise, of course not. Roster numbers game, though: there isn't a space.

If you could tell me the Flyers had a deal to move out someone and would bring in Chara for one year, fine. If they hadn't signed Gustafsson, fine. By all means, go for it.

But that wasn't the case. Chara can still play at age 42. But he's no longer going to move the needle to the point where you change your roster around.

No not fair at all. They are all the best players on their respected teams.

Andrae has grown 4 inches. His teammates are calling him Andrae the Giant.

Is this true about the growth spurt?

No. But he did cut his body fat this offseason from 15 percent to 10 percent. Added some muscle. Still weighs about about 180 pounds but it's better weight mass; leaner and more muscular.

None of them. But Chara can't play 20+ mins anymore regularly in his own right.

How about 21 though, Bill?

Nice. Looking forward to hear the progress frost and farabee made in that regard this offseason. Hope each was blessed to pack on an additional 10 pounds.

It amazes me how every year, some fans have no clue about players and why it's a good move to pursue a player or not. Hoffman keeps getting brought up as a player the Flyers should've pursued. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. I would be okay with Hoffman on a one year deal such was what the Blues signed him for but I doubt he would've come here for that. The Flyers would've needed to offer a high dollar with term deal to get Hoffman to sign. He is absolutely the wrong kind of player to do that with. Hoffman is good offensively but otherwise is not a very good player. We already have that kind of player in JVR whose cap hit is going to hinder the team. The Flyers have a number of quality young players who they need to continue to develop and give playing time to. Not the right player or the right time. Anyone who thinks the Flyers should've have signed him to a long term deal doesn't know the player, the game or understands cap management.

And on top of all the fine facts you’ve provided, his lady is bat poop crazy and caused some serious locker room issues. Idc how many years ago it was, I don’t want to risk hurting our locker room.

I can’t stop smiling after hearing the Morin to LW news. I love the idea! Let’s do this! I can’t wait to see it. Drop the puck already!

Same here. I remember after his most recent knee injury he admitted he considered retiring since he just spent the previous year recovering. Glad to see him still fighting. Just want the kid to stay healthy. From everything I’ve read about him over the years, guy always has a smile (Like Oskar) despite the crappy hand he’s been dealt, and is eager to get on the ice.

And we could use him especially against the Islanders. I think he can be a BIG help in certain situations. Plus he gets to play. Win for the team and player.

It’ll be interesting. His foot speed is what may hinder him. If he is healthy and brings that mean streak and can keep up. I can see him used against teams like the caps or isles. He has things to prove. Here’s hoping for the kid.

I don’t think he is slow at all...especially going forward. He is a good skater for a giant. He has had extra time to rehab his skating, let’s see it first.

They always said he skated well for a big guy, but assuming that was before his knee injuries.Having said that, man that size and frame with any speed has to be terrifying when it’s lining you up!

It’s going to be very difficult to switch to offense at the NHL level, very few guys have done this and been effective. Guys that are very talented might be able to pull it off, Burns and Byfuglien went in the opposite way. His game wasn’t really predicated on offense to begin with, maybe he can be a fourth line old school bruiser.

I know he was still playing big minutes even last year. He also hit a wall and struggled in the second half. His role needs to be reduced at this point, although a shortened season might keep him fresher for the playoffs.

Gavin Lee on Morin:
“ The 25-year-old forward won’t be trying to lead the team in scoring anytime soon, telling reporters including Charlie O’Connor of The Athletic that the player he’s watching and trying to emulate is Matt Martin. The 6’6″ Morin certainly has the frame to play that bang-and-crash style and he has no pretense of entitlement; the 2013 first-round pick readily admits that he’s fighting for his career after several major surgeries.”

With the taxi squad, after Morin passes through waivers once he’ll be able to shuffle in and out of the lineup when needed. With all the “double headers” on the schedule maybe Morin “retaliates “ in game 2 whenever there is physical trouble in game 1. Still a long shot but fun to imagine.

Recently, the 66-year-old Croce has been waging a battle with cancer. On Wednesday, he tweeted out some good news: his radiation treatments are done and he is in remission.

This is great news! I remember that at the very end of the famous, thrilling 1987 SCF game 6, Croce was one of the guys just off the ice next to the bench who was celebrating the win with a number of players as they came off the ice.

That seems to me a reasonable goal/expectation. He can move guys no one else on the team can. He can keep players honest. As far as there not being much precedent, I’d say that there is also only one Sam Morin. It is not important. He has his own path.

Well then you are oblivious, he should not be in the top 4 on any team.
- ClaudeFather

Claudefather. Let me make this very clear as I state this and for your benefit, I’m not mixing words.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Chara last season averaged, 21 minutes a game, ended the season with 14 points and was a plus 26. I don’t know a single third pair player who does this. I’m not saying he’s Zdano Chara of ten years ago. Nobody is saying this but Chara would absolutely help out this team for one season in the top four. We’re missing a top four player, which is the only reason you consider signing him.

Sure.

Btw, I wanted to correct a little anecdote from a few days ago. Some memories have become jumbled. The anarchists used to live around 47 and Baltimore, a little north/south, not so much Pine, really in the 1990s.

I know you must have been staying up puzzling about the discrepancy, so I thought it was worth a correction.
