He took his handle based on Pelle Lindbergh, who was a sunny, optimistic type by nature. But he should be PBrendl55 because Pavel Brendl was serially dour and pessimistic about everything.
My favorite Pavel Brendl story: He once said not even the Czech coaches or players like.him.
Second favorite: The Flyers were trailing a game, 2-0. On the bench, John LeClair said, "Come on, boys! We just need to pick up on Pavel's energy and well be fine!"
At the end of the bench sat Pavel Brendl, eyes half closed, with a Droopy Dog expression on his face. - bmeltzer
I love Ryan Whitney’s LeClair story on Spitting Chiclets, on how Whitney as a rookie claimed one day he would be an assistant captain on the Penguins.

When you plug Chara in the Caps are in pretty good shape for this year imo.
Have to consider covid and that he probably didn’t want to get stuck out West all season either. - hereticpride
There better be a story within the next few days that the Flyers pushed hard for Chara but ultimately he wanted to play for the caps. The very last thing I wanna hear is the Flyers sat on their hands with this one.
Without revenue to share idk how the league expects some of these franchises to hold on with what they’re forking out long term in player salaries, building costs, etc.
Hell of a time to be bringing a new franchise into the league lol - hereticpride
NHL franchises are worth in the range of 300M to 1B+. Teams will survive. The franchise fees for an expansion team goes straight to the Owners and is not shared with the players. So yes, it is a very good time for bringing in a new franchise.
