Theo - we seem to have a fairly regular discussion about how good or bad is, a cold, analytical look at Stan's ranking in the league might make a decent blog subject. - mohel
He's the worst Mo...the worst! |

Nah - signing the Geico walrus would be better.

Idk if anyone heard this but on a podcast pierre McGuire(I believe) was rumorizing he heard toews is out 4-6 months with what he called a workout injury. I'm sure we'll hear more but the hawks statement said he's out indefinitely and didn't specify the illness or injury. People are already speculating it as toews is angry with the organization but that's hearsay. We are toast for this season folks. |

I don't know... Chiarelli and Chayka could give him a run for his money.

Gee - I didn’t know only certain people here were allowed to make sarcastic comments - like yours about Bowman.
I’ll learn. |

This means all out tank, so honestly as far as hockey goes it’s not a bad thing(obviously as far as Toews is concerned it’s awful and I hope he gets better ASAP).
It will almost ensure that we draft another stud young player.
No Toews and no Dach. Why not just throw out a bunch of different lineups featuring several young players that can essentially audition and gain experience? At the same time we’ll lose the majority of our games and draft as high as possible.
This is the best way to approach this season given what’s taken place.
We can legitimately be the worst team in the league this year WHILE learning a lot about what our youth has to offer. They gain experience, we get a top draft pick.
Then next year Toews and Dach return to join another potential top 3 pick + another year of development for all of our other youngsters. |

Good idea.
Fans tend to have a myopic view on things and I suspect a study on GMs across the league would show Stan is more in the average category than the kiss of death he's portrayed as here.

Never say never but I'd have a real hard time buying any of that. He might be upset at how the season's shaping up but I can't see him just throwing in the towel.
With his news, Dach and others the Hawks now appear have a pretty clear path to actually being worse than the Wings this season.
Was hoping some of the Yutes could marinate but they may not have much choice now but to play a few they weren't expecting. |

Playing dumb when called out for political commentary again - you've got that move down pat but it doesn't fool anyone.

I had a torn meniscus, they said we will scope it, 3 days and you will be good to go. Woke up, handed me crutches and said congratulations, we found a bunch of cartilage we needed to clean up, your cast will come off in 6-8 weeks. - LAHawk
I've been scoped for meniscus tears 3 times, 2 on one knee, one on the other.
The first one, I ran a half marathon (IndyMini) 3 weeks after surgery. Not fast, but I made it through 13.1 miles with no pain. The 3rd one I literally walked out of the hospital, with a cane, no crutches.
Every person & surgery is different. |

Just keep changing the lineups, keep shuffling in different prospects to audition and see what they’ve got. The losses will come. Even if we have DET to “compete” with. |

And an analysis of his strengths and weaknesses.
Individual coaches and GMs - no matter how good and successful - are well suited for different stages in a team’s development. Q and Phil Jackson are well suited for teams ready to win - the “B to C” stage that Reinsdorf liked to talk about. Epstein is good at rebuilds - not so much at maintaining. Kraus was actually good at maintaining - not at all at rebuilding.
Colliton may be good at developing - jury is still out - we have no evidence that he can take a team expected to compete to that level.
What is Stan? He did a good job “retooling” to get to 2013-2015 - can he not do a “rebuild”? |

Wow.
- Possible shortened season ending injuries to Nylander and Dach.
- Unknown recovery timeline for a "mystery" ailment to Toews.
- Goaltenders with a total of 84 NHL games between the 3 of them.
And training camp hasn't even opened yet.
I'm just sitting here giggling and shaking my head. I'll still watch them (and other NHL games). It's going to be kinda sad and interesting to see how things play out.
At least with the realignment there won't be any of those late MST or PST start times. |
