In what (frank)ed up world is Perry (or Frolik) an upgrade over Byron.

3M vs 750k, and size... And since his commotion, Byron has not been the same... But yeah, I'd put Byron out just for salary cap issues (3M on a 4th line is pretty expansive)

Benching Byron does nothing to save / manage cap space.

And by the time Perry gets his slow ass up the ice, size won't matter because the puck will be going the other way.

Gonna be a cluster(frank) when Perry and Frolik are eating minutes because CJ believes they are "veterans that can be relied upon"...

I think the upcoming season will see teams using many players. lots of games in a short period of time, injuries, covid... depth will be an important asset.

as for Perry, I take it you didn't watch last summer' playoffs.

That is fine, but if you team is suppose to be based on speed, why sign an old guy who can't skate and can barely score anymore?

Mind (frank)ing boggling.

he was one of the best on a DAL team which made it to the finals. put him in front of the net on PPs, give him limited minutes at 5x5. he brings grit, size and experience. good signing imo.

calm down, it's one year $750k

he's certainly on the downswing of his career but he's still productive

Waste of cap space.... If you have Frolik, you don't need Perry (or vice versa).

''Frolik, and now Perry.....why? Does Bergy not have any faith in the young guys, because it seems like both of these signings just take roster spots from the kids. One year contracts do nothing for expansion draft protection, or do they?''

Bergy probably wants the younger guys actually playing in Laval rather than getting practices on the taxi squad. In case of a long term injury he can call a guy up from the minors. Short term they are interchangeable parts for the fourth line.

he gets under the skin of opponents. he creates room for his linemates. he brings more than just goals, good guy to have in your lineup imo.

You have that with Gallagher, Anderson, as well as Weber, Edmundson and Chariot on the back end,

Again, you don't need both Frolik and Perry on this team.

Frolik I agree. but if they figure they have the space, why not.
these 3 dmen play tough, but don't really get under the skin as Perry does.

If he's on the Taxi Squad, it will be considered as buried cap hit, so yeah, it saves / manages cap space.

Bergevin is just signing guys to have a better taxi squad, no matter who his in there. I rather have guys like Perry, Byron, Frolik, Ouellet, etc, instead of kids who would just practice and not play much. Let the kids play full time in Laval and get them ready for the next season.

Waivers are required for anyone to be put on the taxi squad, that are on 1 way contracts and not waiver exempt.

You can't just throw anyone on the taxi squad to save cap space.
