I kinda feel like the Darcy era is similar to Richard jauron.
Play everything safe. Keep it close.

Darcy made "safe picks"
Paille won a cup with the bruins I believe?
Just a role type guy that we could have used here.

He did
Was an important piece of a very good 4th line for them with Campbell & Thornton

Darcy actually drafted a lot of high skill high risk picks

Myers was a boom or bust
Grigorenko
Tyler Ennis
Armia

I don’t think he really drafted that safely

Paille was a skill guy coming out of the draft, but similar to a guy like Armia he had to develop a strong two way game because he wasn’t scoring enough as a pro to be one dimensional

Good point with Myers grigeneko and ennis .
Vanek ...

Armia has the safe larry tag in my opinion

Goose
Zadarov
Locomotive
Paillie
Risto

Slow of foot guys, seem like safe picks

I’m not loving the potential of Tua being able to throw to Devontae Smith if Miami picks him

Won’t surprise me if they take a WR with the high 1st they’re getting from HOU

Looks better than u know who as a rookie
Might wanna hold off on assessing him right now anyways. He hasn’t even played a season yet

We don't have to worry about him throwing to anyone unless it's within 5 yards of the LOS

Vegas has the Sabres 7th just beating out NJ

We are adding an nhl 1b/2a line with hall - stahl -cousins
Even if they stay with olo jack sam @#1

Skinner is going to be stahl -skinner 2018 guy hopefully
Olofsson is healthy and 1 yards older, no longer a rookie
Tage is finally good size/age prospect.
Mitts is a 21 year old former 8 oa
Log line 2/3 intact.

Dahlin and joker older and stronger, more experienced
Risto played better under ralph
World juniors guys playing great
Coaching staff with a year of experience

Goaltending older- Ullmark
Hutton - healthy and can see

On paper we should be in the hunt for the playoffs
Bill's are winning!@@

Happy 2021

There is no doubt they upgraded the F group on the roster, the rest not so much.
We'll see growth from Dahlin, but I TV will be interesting to see how they pair guys up.

All in all though, I have low expectations with respect to final results...the division is too tough for this incomplete roster. Only expectation is entertaining hockey returning.

Bottom line is I believe Vegas is closer to the truth.
The traditional Buffalo Hope Train is fully charged up and revving its'engine hard.

The defense pairings (in no particular order) from earlier today are below.

McCabe - Ristolainen
Dahlin - Montour
Miller - Jokiharju

Ya, I'd wait to evaluate rookie QB's.
this fanbase of all should realize the potential for growth exists IF the player works hard in their development.

We shall see.

Thanks.

Didn't they see the horrendous play that was McCabe - Ristolainen last season?
I guess I'll simmer down and wait to see how it goes, and maybe it is merely drills vs pairings, but this goes back to my earlier post about Krueger et all.
They do some head scratching stuff.

Josh had a lot of room for growth. He had elite physical tools just never had good coaching. Had wonky mechanics that he worked on.

Tua went to a powerhouse school and had top coaches to work with. He already has decent mechanics. I think he is what he is at this point. He's the new Alex Smith.

Unlike the people still needing to see more, a lot of us saw something special in Allen the second he took the field. We evaluated him the same then as we do now: He had it, but needed to put it all together.

Tua doesn't have it. If I'm wrong, I'll admit to it 3 years from now. But he sucks and that's great news for us.

The McCabe - Ristolainen pair played at a quality 2nd pairing level last season. It was the Montour - Ristolainen pair that was outright awful last season.

Honestly I was shocked at how good McCabe’s defensive impacts have been.

They should consider locking him up if his price is reasonable

Well it’s not like Miami had good weapons
That’s where drafting a guy like Smith or even Chase from LSU could be a big help

I heard an interview on WGR a couple months ago where they asked Ullmark who our best defenseman in our own end was
He said McCabe
Then the interviewer (i forget who it was) told him that Hutton said the same thing

McCabe isn’t nearly as bad as many on here think
He’s a solid player
And i agree, we should lock him up long term
