New doesn’t equal better
Might wanna pick up a thesaurus or dictionary

I'll offer you a piece of your own advice:

Constantly whining and complaining about it isn't going to bring Larsson back

Cozens with a really nice goal vs Finland
- Sabretooth9

Back check to force the turnover, zone exit, zone entry, looks for pass on the 3 and 1 then buries.

Perfection

Big contribution from him this year would go a long way

If we cant fix the problems maybe we can outscore them

AND EICHEL
AND SAM

We’ve sucked bc of goaltending & lack of secondary scoring....
NOT bc Larson had 18pts instead of 25

Goof grief guys
The misplaced hate is just nuts

- jdfitz77

This isn't misplaced hate. I didn't hate Larsson.

This is calling people out for their ridiculous love affairs with inconsequential players.

If Larry is so important and his defense is so consequential, why did he sign with the worst team in the league for 1 year and 1.4?

There's a reason he's not getting paid well, signed by a winner or for long term.

He's not as good as you think he is.

Only the elite Cody Eakin got term in free agency this year.

Everyone else got one year deals

Tage got 3
Locomotive got 3

Markstrom an actual good player got 6 years.

Being upset about upgrading from Larsson is very confusing. We added basically a solid 1B line

Hall stahl cozens

And some are worried about the face of not scoring and not winning

I bet if we had advanced stats 15 years ago we would have had takes like "Jiri Novotny is a poor man's Iginla."

Of course not, but:
1- tough to score without shooting
2- goes to show how great the LOG line was at flipping the ice
To have shot suppression stats like that when you’re almost always starting in your own zone is fantastic

No one is saying the line was good offensively
We saying there’s VALUE in their really good defensive play

- jdfitz77

VALUE?

I liked Larry. But with an actual nhl roster your 4th line should not have to be a shut down line. They should be a line that plays some minutes to rest lines 1-3 and doesn’t hurt you. That said, he did a great job in the expanded 4th line role while he was here but if we need the 4th line to play a shut down role this season, everything we did in the off-season failed. We have a ton of guys on the current roster that can fill a true 4th line center role.

IMO

Happy new year boys!

Because they have very little talent and need a 4th line that plays 15-20 mins a game in a shut down role. They made a great signing. He’s proven in that role.

Yeah, Covid Cap issues

And don’t go exaggerating what I’ve said

All I’ve said he’s a “good” defensive forward,
AND HE IS
It’s not like I’ve said Larsson was a Selke candidate or anything

Who is playing the shutdown role this year? It still looks like the 4th line to me.

How many other options do you think were out there for larry?

I liked the guy , I agree it's a good signing for Arizona.

We're not Arizona. No room for that here.

Shouldn’t need a ‘shutdown line’ with adequate talent & balanced lines that understand offensive strategy and defensive responsibility. There might be line matchups you prefer but lines 1-3 should be able to defend adequately while providing the proportionate amount of offense. 4th line out there to give everyone a breather and put their ankles in front of pucks on the PK.

We don’t have that type of talent yet
We are NOT Boston
Eichel is NOT Bergeron
