Can you imagine being in a face-to-face conversation with him?

I can't. I'd have opened my Ipad and flashed endless gifs back at him

American Football isn’t more popular worldwide. In fact European’s recent that they call football “football”. They call it American pigskin. Soccer is huge in Europe, which only proves my point. It a where you’re from thing.
- SuperSchennBros

I guess I misunderstood? I thought you were saying that the reason hockey isn’t as popular as the other 3 major pro sports in the US is because Bettman is holding it back. I also thought you were saying that it deserves to be (or should be?) more popular in the US because it’s so popular internationally. I don’t agree with either of those statements. I’m fine with it being #4 in the US. I don’t think it’s very popular internationally compared to other pro sports. It’s right where it deserves to be. I’m not even sure why I should care how popular it is?

Nobody is asking you to.

But don't be surprised if you post something which is ill thought out, and somebody provides a detailed, comprehensive answer.

Even on a sports board.

This coming from the king of posting ill thought out comments. Beginning with commenting on declining viewership and mixing up the requirements and investment needed to play the sport. Two different things. You even added liberal gender bull poop and global warming into it. Talk about indoctrination rearing it's ugly head again. You wasted your time typing out that long winded nonsense.
I also think that if you were actually around women, which I doubt because they'd be bored to tears, tons of women absolutely love the sport of hockey.

So, I was just checking, and it seems that soccer has overtaken hockey by recent tv viewership and participation and ranking of favorite sports.

Maybe if the rankings were confined to just men, hockey would still be 4th, but that hoary idea seems like yesterday's news.

He may not have finished, but he did a great job on the other side of the puck during that shift to prevent a Russian goal. Atta Brinky Boy

Get over yourself Sheldon. You’re a nobody. Like everybody else, I read 2 points and moved on. Needing attention everyday from people you don’t know is pathetic.

Maybe in the US....but in Canada, despite not being a glamorous country like the US (lol) hockey still reigns supreme. And despite some other comment earlier about the NHL being an “American enterprise”. WTF? There would not be an NHL without Canada, at least not one worth watching. It is always amusing to hear my brothers from the south describe them selves....good thing I guess, because a large part of the world does not see your country in the same light.

Do you know how the world views Canada lol. The country north of the US, that’s it. No one cares.

Tough game for the US team at the WJCs, it seemed every mistake ended up in the back of their net. Knight has got to improve his puck handling skill and decision making, he cost his team two goals, and not to be too negative, but York did not look strong on his skates or on the puck, hopefully he can improve. The US top line looks strong, and Jake Sanderson looks like a top 5 pick so far.

I prefer hockey being a second tier pro sport. I can still fool myself into feeling like the players are there for the love of the sport. I don’t want it to become the NFL or NBA.
- Dkos

Right with you, the three major sports, NBA, NFL and MLB are unwatchable to me, especially once corporations get their teeth sunk in. MLB is fading fast, its just become a boring sport played by very unlikable players. The NBA is nothing more than a 3 point contest and on 1 on 1 isolation plays, and again is played by very unlikable players. Finally what can I say about the NFL, can't hit high, can't hit low, can't lead with your helmet, can't touch the quarterback, can't, can't, can't, more pages of rules than the bible, and run by very unlikable owners. I'll take the NHL any day, right now I think the game is the best its been in a very long time!

York was easily one of the US best players . Russia was very opportunistic, seemed to cash in on every chance.

Didn't you hear, hockey viewership is shrinking due to global warming and women viewing it as innately masculine. Women don't like masculinity!

If you want PT21 to believe something, just post a fake poll or some other information to further train him on how to think.

They might have needed a wake up call....they got one. Excited to see how good Cam York is as well...that guy has the potential to be a stud # 1 d that every team covets.

I laugh hysterically every time I read how the rest of the world has a negative view of the US. It's a bunch of nonsense. The majority of the world envies the US despite it's flaws it is still by far the greatest country in the world. Which country are people looking to immigrate to the most?

To me, York looked uneven. One moment he was a step ahead then the next he would pinch or get caught flat footed and burned. Real good with stick work/checking and good shot. Brink looked like the second best forward on the team. I’m excited for him in a year or two. Missed a wide open net on a semi difficult chance. Caulfield was trying way too hard it seemed. Needs to relax a bit. Overall goaltending was the difference and Knight, who still might be a stud, was pretty bad. The back up Wolf looked pretty good.

When you see some of the poop holes around the world that are ...of course they want to migrate to countries like the US and Canada...at least they have a fighting chance at success and they are free....I constantly wine about the taxes I pay but as I tell my kids we are beyond lucky to live in a place like this. It’s safe, clean, democratic and our is a country that looks after it’s own ( or as is often misconstrued as socialist) As far as the greatest country in the world....that’s your perspective, but in my view Canada offers that and more.

It is my perspective and I think Canada is a great country. However Canada relies on the US a great deal.

You are misinterpreting my post. The Canadian virtues are wonderful ones. Currently, it is a more admirable country than the US imo based on many things.

But the image of Canada is just not as flashy (aka glamorous). Trust me, I have spent years of my life in the 3rd world. There is much allure for American glamour.

The kind of perception you are describing is largely that of wealthy countries. Yeah, Trump did a # on the US image there:

https://www.pewresearch.o...020-09-15_u-s-image_0-03/

But in the 3rd world, cliches like cowboy hats, and Elvis and freedom still work.
