To replace the one they lost.

Lost or didn't want ?

Tanev and Toffoli 8.75 mil

Schmidt and Virtanen 8.5 mil.

I think if Canucks really wanted Toffoli and Tanev they could have scraped together another quarter mil.

Canucks win a lottery position and pick one of the studs on defense, like Owen Power or Brandt Clarke

He's got a way better shot at the calder this year then Podz does, am I the only one who sees that?

Not all short offensive players are soft, look at Brayden Point, Brad Marchand, Brendan Gallagher, and evening Kaiser Yamamoto, he’s good defensively (Yammy) and he can put up offensive numbers.

Just installed a new hose on our kitchen faucet, what a royal pain in the ass that is to feed it back thru everything without getting hung up on something

2021 a heavy D draft no comsensus
I could live with getting Clarke RHD (need) frees up Schmidt for LHD & OJ or Rathbone teade chips, Guenther LW (need) allows Miller to play either wing, Johnson never enough C depth & allow a Gaudette trade if needed.

Next draft in 2022 is much better especially top 3 prospects. Heavy F draft.

I agree. I think between Tanev's injuries and his singular game, they were hoping to upgrade if possible. Hughes played better with Myers even. Tanev definitely wasnt a must sign situation for them.

Now they have two of the best zone entry D's in the league instead with not giving anything up defensively. Younger and healthier as well... excellent upgrade.

Buys prospects time to develop their there they’re defensive game. I like having more mobility & offence to build upon.

Yeah they had more than a month to sign both of them to match their current contracts.

Benning said right after the playoffs " I thought Toffoli would score more in the playoffs" .

I think it had to do with term. Canucks did not sign one free agent longer than two years and good on them.

Vancouver added a top 4 defender.

Edmonton is going for the Leafs model of adding more soft scorers and figure out defensive next off season after we are bounced in the first round of the playoffs but never really figuring out defence.

- manvanfan

Vancouver also lost a top 4 defender. Edmonton added a top 4 defender too. Same same but different.

That's good. 4 franchise D came out of the last top heavy D draft class 2008.

Maybe you don't watch much Toronto games but Tyson Barrie's worth as an offensive defencemen takes a hit because his defensive is so far into the negative.

If you had a rating system of 50/50 for defence/offence. He would get 38/50 for offence. For defender he would get 4/50. So 42/100 That's not a top 4 D in the NHL.

Tanev was offered 4 mil by JB and he opted to step back with the Flames for the extra $500,000. Fu*ck him.

We won without TT so why spend there?

Baffling sometimes lol...

Don't you know that all players are creating equally into categories of top 6, bottom 6, top 4 and AHL capable.
