They both get paid ok & understand money to win is just important to fill a roster well.

There was only one contract signed over 8 mil year. Hall signed one for 8 exactly but onlyietrangelo had more than 8 mil

8 year deal in the 13.5% range. So around 11M.

8 year deal at 9% for Hughes. So like 7.8

- manvanfan

I can see Petey signing for less. He’s not as greedy as Leaf stars imo. Wants to win. 10m max

I really doubt anyone other than Ovechkin gets paid more than 8 mil next year.

League source says at this point the BC government remains unwilling to allow NHL teams to travel into the province for games. That may change as discussions continue, but remains their position as of now, even with the added safety protocols outlined today by @frank_seravalli

I'm still waiting to see what the islanders do.

Can't see Petey taking less then 10m on a long term deal

Barzal won’t see 10m my guess 8/8.5-8.75m
Cannot see Petey getting over 10m & I fully expect a hefty bridge deal comes 1st.

Might want to see comparable's before you say what a player should and shouldn't get.

Mitch Marner signed age 22 241gp 224 pts 13.37% 6 years $10,893,000 (winger)

Mikko Rantanen signed age 22 239gp 209pts 11.35% 6 years $9,250,000(winger)

Auston Matthews signed age 21 182gp 178pts 14.63% 5 years $11,634,000(center)

Pettersson will sign at 22 139gp 132pts

191gp 137pts 11.33%

Petey has 5 less points than him in 52 less games. Plus he's much better defensively.

Eichel signed 21 142gp 113pts 13.33% 8 years $10,000,000

Decent comparables but prefer C to C.
-Aho but not at such a bargain.
-Barzal once signed
To name a couple

Leaf signings had no savings so I ignore solely on the reason Dubas could’ve done better.

242gp 197pts 10.37% $8,454,000

When Aho signed. I think Aho signed for a more reasonable market value than some others.

I think the 11.09% that Kane and Toews got on previous contracts are what the best players should be getting at there age. Shorter term. 5 year deals. Problem becomes the back end of the contract for their next ones.

I would rather give him an extra 1.5% on the contract to hopefully in 6 years when he's prime costing the team less than another 4% on a new contract.

It doesn't matter where the Canucks play when there are no fans in the rink. No teams in Canada will have any fans in the stands likely this season; its not the stupid states.

They said they may do a hybrid bubble for the Canadian teams or Canucks may play out of Quebec. Less travel. But players should be smarter and just allow for the bubble. Teams rotating in and out of it and/or allow for family to be in the bubble too.

Buys prospects time to develop their there they’re defensive game. I like having more mobility & offence to build upon.

Read the article. It didn't mention that about the other 6 teams. Nice try with the 'everybody has herpes, so I might as well get herpes' argument.

- Marwood

I did read it all and my point still stands - 6 other teams in the exact same boat!!

The “everybody has herpes” argument has got to the be the dumbest sh$t I’ve ever heard. It’s only you and couple other dipsh$ts here that think theres logic in it - it doesn’t even make sense!!

Why are their herpes different than ours? What about the part where we fleeced Vegas (a fellow cap hell team) Should we thank them? What version of herpes do they have? A,B,C?

And yet JB desperately tried to trade for him with COL, even offered more $ than EDM did in free agency.

It means before owners had money to spend seeing they were making money.

How many contracts this year over 8 mil?

Two for two players that were actually owed it.

Backstrom signed the same cap percent 10 years later and it has gone up 2.5M
