How do they compare to each other in the playoffs? - Striiker
What is the impact to the locker room? What message does that send to the teams young players. TK imo was a big part of our success last year and looks to be on a very good contract. TK has improved every year. Can the same be said for laine? |

What have they both been to the playoffs twice each, for TK potentially his rookie year and then this past bubble? Another great question man, keep em coming |

Its always interesting to see how others view your own players. Fans always overvalue their stars and undervalue their busts.
But otoh you are undoubtedly correct about the "inertia" factor. Certain players keep getting voted into top lists and all star games and pro bowls and the like purely because of past reputation.
What he needs to vault into the top 10 is a dominant post-season. I hope he can channel his inner Primeau. We have seen flashes of that. I think he has that in him.
What do you think of sliding the wingers up/down?

rest as before. - PT21
I think the top two lines may be similar to start. All depends on patty imo.
But I did like how Scott looked with g and jake during the playoffs. He was also effective with pit and jvr. Different lines combos to consider.

So many interesting enticing options. I could do this all day. Assuming patty is healthy. If not it’s harder to put Scott on wing. He played so well with Hayes.

I think he will. Has slowly improved each year. He will plateau sooner or later but think he will provide a little more offense and be the steady two way guy. I think he can be a consistent 20 goal getter on a shutdown line soon. That’ll be what he is until his early 30s. |

They have the same amount of conference titles I believe. I do know the also have the same amount of Stanley cup rings. And as uncanny as it just for thought. They have the same amount of Olympic medals as well. But not positive on that one. |

Why post just their regular season stats and not playoffs? Wouldn't you want to show the complete picture so posters can discuss? |

Yeah, I hate the Rangers (and now his Caps), but it’s unfortunate his HOF career looks like it won’t end on his terms. |

Laine 24 games 8g 8 A
TK 22 games 1 g 7 A
Honestly, the sample sets are far too small. Further, Laine was a star from the minute he came into league. TK has had a more gradual ascent.
On top of that, Laine is a pp fiend. He plays a critical role on their 1st pp unit. 8 of his 16 points came there. TK mostly did not play on our first pp unit. |

We all know how this is going to turn out. Ghost will get in when there is an injury and either A.) get limited minutes on a 5-6 pair role or B.) put on an appropriate pairing with PP time and play well until he commits a bad giveaway with the puck and put in the doghouse.
It's going to take some time for Ghost to get his confidence back. That's not gonna happen if he "earns" a spot and then is subsequently benched due to a bad decision or two. Personally, and needless to say I'm not the coach or have any experience coaching, but I give him a long look with a looser rope than usual to give him an honest chance at getting back to his former self. Because if he does, that is a tremendous weapon for this team. - StepfordSam
Borrowed from a very intelligent poster on HF Boards:
In Ghost's last game played....a 4-0 loss to NYI:
Ghost not on the ice for any goals against...only pairing that can say that
CF 27, CA 15....so 64.29%...Best D on the team
CF% Rel: 12.11...Best D on team
SF% Rel: 10.42...2nd best on team behind Braun his pairing Dman. Next best Dman was at 2.78. Nisky was -22.72!
High Danger...on ice for 4 chances for, 3 against....Best D on team. Sanheim outchanced 3-8!
Does that look like a performance that should get a Dman benched? OF COURSE NOT! Yet he was.
Hagg was the replacement and the VERY NEXT game:
Hagg outchanced 7-19 Worst on team, CF% -21.31 Worst on team, HDCF rel% -30% Worst on team
But we won and Hagg never left the lineup again.
Sometimes coaches...and GM's for that matter....make dumb decisions based on nothing.

You said he is not guaranteed a spot? How are you in a position to state that unless you are privy to information others are not? - Striiker
Do you seriously need someone to explain to you why he is not guaranteed a spot on the team. There is plenty of available information to come to an opinion that he does not have a guarantee.

meh. I don't think he was being serious. Only an idiot with no hockey knowledge would think a FA forward who has never played on small ice or in the NHL could be guaranteed an NHL roster spot.
He was trying to stir the pot for whatever reason.

Well if your using common sense put yourself in his shoes. You think he is going to come here on a 1 year deal to play in the AHL? He can stay at home while making more money. He was signed to be on this roster.
Also since your taking educated guesses do you think he had any interest from other NHL teams?
Now if he looks out of place or is passed over internally then all bets are off. Based on how he has played this year I don't see that happening. He has a spot to lose; using common sense and all. If he does lose it he will head back to Europe more than likely.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by a guy like that? Is it a guy like raffle? OR is it a guy like someone else. - Striiker
Do yourself a favor and remove the foot from your mouth and educate yourself on what an ELC is and what the rules are for an ELC.
There is no common sense that would show that Sandin has a spot to lose. No such thing for a player who has never played an NHL game in his situation.
