I think junior leagues could get away with it because they aren't competing for TV viewership.

Not sure why TSN hasn't tried to capture that market

Sportsnet has played the occasional game over the years.

I wouldn't say there's much of a market for it. As a person who watches a ton of hockey and loves watching up and coming prospects. Not even I would watch it all that often.

Ya, it is pointless watching a whole game, when you can evaluate these kids in a 5 minute video clip.

-51 with the wind chill this morning... (frank) it'd be nice to have some hockey to watch right about now

Sorry. Don’t mean to laugh at your expense.

But hope is on the horizon! In a few short years global warming will convert that to a balmy -49.

Exactly. You get the oldest kids that skate around for 30 minutes and the rest aren't probably making it so might as well just save it for highlights. I could watch 30 sets of highlights in the time I watched one kid sit on the bench for half a game.

Somebody is going to have to watch the game to get the analytics. Won't be me.

Watched the Canucks-NYR game from Feb 4, 1984 last night on YouTube. Brodeur was my favorite player when I was a kid but man was he bad! And you could see that Cam Neely was going to be a beast....so sad they dealt him...

I'm waiting for virtue signalling to be included as a competitive event.

I was minus 2 years old when that game happened.

I was watching Zlodeyev play in the VHL yesterday.

19 and 21st in the standings out of 26 teams.

It was actually a pretty good game. Fast, physical. VHL seems to be lowest scoring league per game in the world. Not for lack of scoring chances either.

I was quite impressed actually Maybe it was a one off.

I hope they don't trade away Zlodeyev

I do wish I would have seen Neely play as a Canuck

It's only really gotten cold the last week or so honestly. We had a very unusual streak of warm weather at the end of november/early december where it was -10 or warmer consistently. I don't think I've ever seen something like it here in my life.

Brodeur got hot there for a few months in '82....that was about it. They were talking about him for the Conn Smythe until the Islanders broke him in the final. Never really was the same after.

Edit: Just checked his stats. He was 5'7". Crazy.

Two summers ago, it was the coldest on avg in 40 years or something. This summer MB hit a record number of days of plus 20.

He actually had a very good career up until the '82 Finals. Then it quickly went downhill. The team wasnt really THAT bad outside of Brodeur and perhaps missing another solid d-man but they had Tanti, Gradin, Sundstrom, Smyl, Neely, Lanz, Petit was the hotshot rookie, Halward........Oilers and Flames pasted them night in/night out.....tough division......

This year as a whole has been some of the strangest weather I've ever seen in YK. Super windy in the summer, weird warm spots in the winter followed by extreme cold. My 90 year old grandmother who has lived here since the 50s said she's never seen anything like it. Definitely confirmation that climate change is real

Some weird flux's for sure.

Southwest MB my job some years they get 30 cm of snow every week and other years, you're almost cutting your grass in the winter.

I think the Russian Jrs had him on the radar for tryouts but he got injured about 3 weeks ago.

Still a good indication for late round picks in their draft year.
