I would not count on ol Vantel coming back. I have been skimming through the comments for the last 10 days and my personal opinion is that some of the dumbest fans on the planet live here.
There are about 4 or 5 posters that bring news or that have good insight but for the most part it's the same old sh1t day after day. I am not knocking it if the six of you are happy telling each other day after day Benning is dumb even though the team is jumping in the standings then who am I to interfere .
I do notice a number of posters that don't come here anymore but that is okay you do have your gang all assembled.
Louis Eriksson was brought in here soley for one more year. To extend the Sedins whom you all cried for "One More Year" . I also warned you and your boys about giving Sven more than 2 years and more than 1.5 mil . You said he had 17 goals and was worth 3mil before he signed. Same as Jake this year should have got 1.5 and again you said he is worth 3.
Canucks have assembled a good team this year and are cap friendly. They did everything you and the gang asked. Walked away from long term Markstrom and Tanev . I remember you all saying you rather sign Jake over four yeArs of Toffoli but now you guys are screaming cap issues. You also demanding for tall players but probably wept when Stecher left , I was not reading sh1t in here back then so can't confirm.
Canucks still have about 5 mil in cap space they can have if wanted but probably won't.
Do I want to be involved in the conversation in here regularly? NOT A FUKEN CHANCE Life is too short .
Enjoy your discussions - VANTEL

In your argument about keeping picks, you flip flopped on trading a 1st and 2nd for Freddy. You and a couple of Leaf's fans argued in here that it was a good move. You eventually lost your poop because of me accusing you of flip flopping over and over.

I told you it wasn't a race. It was about quality in multiple positions. You thought drafting some forwards was enough... well it wasn't. Meanwhile in the time that has passed, Canucks drafted a great center, a good winger, an elite defenseman and one hell of a goalie with more coming down the pipeline and some depth players as well.
You continue to flip flop on this. The Leaf's are an example of not drafting enough....
Your move.... - boonerbuck
All it took was a Vantel appearance and the sticks and stones start being tossed.

Hodgson played over 350 games and was 1st and 2nd in scoring on the Sabres before he left due to injuries. His D game sucked no doubt but this "bust" narrative about him from some is hilarious. He simply didn't live up to the hype and was injury prone. - boonerbuck
That's what I was trying to tell Lefty about all the prospects the Kings have at the WJ's this year. |

Yes, the misdiagnosis is overlooked in these here parts.
That big contract he signed with Buffalo came off a huge season. He was a far better player then kassian ever was. |

I call BS, although I do vaguely remember an Andersen conversation. My points were always about utilizing the NHL draft, and how I wanted Benning to utilize it, they were never about how to perfect a complete rebuild....your move - Pacificgem
Benning has done a great job of utilizing the NHL draft. Drafting a new core. Trading away picks to supplement the team needs. |

Between 2015-2016-2017 (squarely during their rebuild) they picked 27 times, an extra six picks, including three 1st round picks and five 2nd round picks, that’s good! Did they rush things, it’s Toronto, of course they did.
However, by 2018 they’d already put together a good 105 point season. |

Naw, I jumped in before Vantel showed up because I remember all Leftie's rebuild envy over the years and those teams never lived up to all of Lefties credit he was giving them.
I always said I'd rather do it right than just make it to the playoffs. Lefty was wrong, I was right in the Leaf's example.

He’s done really well with the draft, I agree, except when he took Virtanen 6th overall and Juolevi 5th overall |

First round exit, first round exit, first round exit, missed playoffs.
Keep propping up their regular season success. Even that is fading... they were a bubble team last season and ended up not qualifying. Go Maple Lefties!!!

That has nothing to do with utilizing the draft properly to establish a core, which they did, that comes from mismanagement regarding everything else.
Edit: Jim Benning did the same thing, the difference is, he wasn’t trying to, his incompetence lead to good draft positions....at the end of the day we got what we wanted though. |

They traded away a ridiculous amount of picks including what, 3x 1st rounders? Their roster shows it well... no elc's making a difference... signing players in their 40's for cheap to fill gaps... Freddy who cost them a chance at D or a goalie through the draft will be leaving soon....

Anyone can finish at the bottom, but as you know, that’s not enough, you have to then supplement the core. The Leafs weren’t able to do that, all offence all the time doesn’t win you much in today’s NHL. - Pacificgem
Yeah, that's what I kept telling you and those Leaf fans in here back when you were propping their rebuild up but I was talking about doing it through the draft. Glad you admitted your short sightedness finally.

I don’t know how many first rounders they traded away, I’d have to check...
Edit: I just checked, between 2015-2016-2017 they traded one first round pick (30th overall for Andersen), which is the equivalent of Benning trading our 2020 1st for Miller. |

Not a fan of the stealth tank plan then.... you do. know though that every so called misstep was actually intentional in order to provide depth, even players like Virtanen or OJ wouldn't fit under the cap if instead they were Nylander and tchuck, his madness is actually disguised genius and if you cannot see it you're delusional.... |

you’re talking apples and oranges, I never ever talked about build the Leafs into a contender. I always talked about the draft, I never felt Benning properly utilized the draft.
Case and point, when the Canucks finished 2nd last in 2016 they only had six picks and four of those were 5th, 6th & two 7th round picks....that’s terrible!! |
