Did this make the salish style art that I learned from a native in school cultural appropriation? Am I no longer allowed to draw in this manner?
Am I not allowed to sell my art?
Why would they have taught it if white people were not allowed to use the style?
I'm sorry but it's ridiculous, it's publicity, are all the chiefs upset? No, most don't care, one does so it's front page news. Yes, it is sjw virtue signaling to parrot how it's horrible, if anything having a famous player wear that styled of helmet brings recognition to the culture. - Pres.cup

Things are getting so ridiculous that you can't even pay a respectful tribute anymore. All this exclusion in what is supposed to be a multi cultural society. - boonerbuck
Really there's only one group of people who are being, "excluded".... it's all part of the demoralization process... just need to figure out how to force "diversity" onto the nhl team game rosters. maybe a quota system, or they'll literally fund camps and extra training/ advanced skill developement for"diversity" players at all ages to get the outcomes that they want instead of letting the players compete and sort it out themselves...
the nhl will be so much better that way. i hope they implement that soon, in the name of being "inclusive" |

Well there’s a decent amount of Indigenous people who are offended who are also not happy. Why is the one guy who isn’t right? - neem55
just out of curiousity, what if the people who invented the collared shirt/ pants/ dress shoes, etc... became offended that people who didn't wear them as part of their culture were appropriating their culture?
would you be ok with forcing through public shaming these other people to stop appropriating those cultural items?
just curious who far you're willing to go with the cultural appropriation thought process. can you explain this concept, I might not understand it correctly and I don't want to inadvertently offend anyone here.
Also, does this apply to sports, like hockey, should people who's culture didn't invent the sport, be playing it or does this "cultural appropriation" concept not extend that far.
I'm looking forward to your detailed explanation. Thanks. |

On Hoffman and the Canucks.
The Canucks are once again talking to Hoffman about a longer deal and that is apparently where he wants to go...The question is how Vancouver can open up space, but at least one source, connected to the situation, believes this can occur (e3) |

There are more than one chief and artist upset. The guy who did the helmet used styles from more than one nation. I don’t understand why people standing up for their own culture is virtue signaling. Maybe look into it yourself before asking? - neem55
Art is art, dude. It's messed up when you can't even use a style of art or blend them. What's next, getting upset that other people do impressionist style paintings?
No more Asian style landscapes unless you're Asian?
Are you Arab? It's offensive to use Arabian numerals unless you're Arabian....
Where's the line? Art, is art, period, it's not disrespectful or cultural appropriation. There is not consensus amongst the bands that this was disrespectful, the journalists called around and quoted people who where offended, guess what, within every culture you'll find people who are offended by different things. To assume consensus is in fact racist. It's not cultural appropriation, it's SJW virtue signaling and bandwagon pilling. |

What I found interesting was the linked Charlie Pride article. First, that he was old enough to have played baseball in a segregated league. That’s amazing that segregated leagues existed not so long ago.
Second, that his sister once asked “Why are you singing THEIR music?”
I guess cultural misappropriation does exist both ways... |

Dude, having a team called the Indians is totally different then creating art in a specific style.
Your response is cringy as it's virtue signaling by definition.
I'm sorry but art should not be censored, that's messed up and a sad sign of our time.
Guess what, the Blackhawks are keeping their name even though some native are offended, do you know why? Because it's meant respectfully and isn't a derogatory term. Derogatory stereotypes are horrible, I'm all about anti discrimination, the helmet isn't discriminatory.

Moving money out. Ferland on LTIR
Trading someone away, at a cost. 6M for a season cost TML a 1st. 4M for Staal cost NyR a 2nd.
2-4M still reliable players were getting 4th round picks.
Might be able to get a 5th for Roussel?
3rd for Virtanen?
If Ferland goes on LTIR, and LE and Baertschi are demoted. Plus adding two defensemen at 1.5M
Still looking at around 2.9M max. Unless they have someone else up.... |

Exactly. I just threw out the black and white and yellow and brown and darker brown and orange from my kids markers.
Pretty sure they should all go with magical made up things from now on.
I do remember the Knights had a problem with naming after some part of the military "had" that name. |

What's an all black? The Ka Mate is not art and is perturbed by non Maori peoples at every all black game, are you going to get offended by them doing the haka?
A white cap is the white foam at the top of a wave.
Is the orca logo racist and cultural appropriation?
Because the white dudes who own the logo don't apportion a percentage of jersey sales to the native peoples.
Jesh, some things are not appropriation.

Thanks. It's just easier to eliminate everything all at once instead of waking up daily to find someone is offended by something else. No wonder depression in the world rises substantially every year,
