Ferland isn’t on LTIR. He may or may not, we don’t know. Currently he isn’t on LTIR though. - Pacificgem
Sounds like DET is going to trade Zetterberg for Tyler Johnson
Next CBA it should be if players won't be playing anymore, can't be traded
or if they do trade them you forefit a 2nd round pick as a penalty |

Benning was both lucky and good for picking Pettersson and Hughes. Lucky they weren’t ranked higher and that no other team saw their genius. - Pacificgem
Ok I can live with that lol |

They paid Jake 2.5 and have Ferland on LTIR for 3.5 that is 6 mil they could have used - VANTEL
I think they’re more worried about 2021/22 than next year, obviously, with the kids needing their second contracts and Eriksson, Beagle, Roussel and potentially Ferland still on the books. Adding Toffoli to that hot mess would have been a huge mistake. |

They didn't sign any deals over two years . They had a very good offseason. Did everything that people here said they wanted before free agency. |

If Benning had managed the cap better signing Toffoli was a no-brainer, he would’ve done it in a heartbeat. But he had no money. Personally I’m happy he was FORCED to let him walk and not repeat his past mistakes - Pacificgem
lol If they really wanted Toffoli it was all do-able as Markstrom and Tanev were walking. The team was winning without Toffoli in the line up so why spend there when it can be utilized somewhere else? If the cap was such an issue why did Benning offer Marky 5.5 and Tanev 4 mil per? They chose to walk for the extra $500,000 to Flames team going backwards lol
Losing Tanev-Stecher-Leivo will not hurt us one bit but #teamwhiner needs fodder for the cap and this/that and the other things.... |

I’m very happy with the off-season, agree, the deal for Schmidt was a brilliant coup for Benning along with letting all of Tanev, who I was on the fence about, Markstrom and TT walk. |

McDonough wins the foot race. Scores into the empty net. 2g 1a today.
For a player that has improved his skating this year. Yikes. |

I liked Toffoli at 2 years and I don't blame any of them for signing elsewhere. We do know though you don't build a team in free agency and Calgary and Montreal will find that out. |

Look around the league, 2.5 million for a third liner who can move up or down the lineup and score 18 goals isn’t overpaid. I think he’ll be fine. I’m not a fan but he’s a useful asset. |

I don’t think Toffoli would’ve taken a two year deal, it was four or nothing, again, whatever the reasons, I’m glad he walked.
Calgary is scrambling to supplement their drafted core with the right mix of players, I hope they fall flat on their stupid faces |

Contracts like his and others where players are literally playing in different leagues like Datsyuk was should have a punishment. Clearly cheating.
Forced retirement after say year and a half of not being able to play. Say like a hockey related injury is a forced retirement at 1/3 cap hit for remaining length |

He won the foot race starting like 10 feet behind. It took him from his own slot to basically the other teams goal line 6 full seconds at least.
At the very end of the game in a back to back first games of the year.
If he gained another step. He might get to Pearson speed. |

Yeah, I still can't quite figure out the penalty minutes for Swedish hockey. I would get 5 for fighting and 10 misconduct but what's the other 10? |

Loved the quick right hand to the opposing players head during the scrum. Call me crazy but I’m a lot more excited about Hoglander than Podkolzin, probably because I’ve seen him more. The odds are against him but love his puck skills and work ethic. |

They both bring two different things. Pod brings a very good two way game. Hogs brings the excitement. |
