Is that good enough though?
And what’s Ullmark gotta go to get us 4th or better in this very tough division???

- jdfitz77

If Ullmark plays well and stays healthy, it'll be fine. Personally I'd put Hutton in back-to-backs like Boss said and let him be the sacrificial lamb. Back end of a series against Boston. And give him half the easy games against the Devils. Strategic usage

That a big “if” imo
I think Ullmark would have to take a big leap for us to get a playoff spot in the tough division we’ll be playing in

plus the few traded

I wouldn't take any of them other than Holtby. Just a hideous group of weirdos.

A lot of things are going to have to right for us and terribly wrong for the other teams. I dont see the Sabres being one of the top 4 teams. Sabres got screwed with this idea but nothing can be done now

For a backup, it's fine. Ullmark is going to play 40-45 games in a 56 game season imo. If he sucks, we're in real trouble. Hutton just has to keep his head slightly above water for 12 or so games.

He runs hot and cold. He'll probably get 2 shutouts and 2 nights with a sub .750

- jcragcrumple

I agree, it's still a bit shaky for my comfortabity.

Hot cold is very hutton for sure.

We could always trade for a goalie if, goaltending is really holding us back.

Krueger surely likes Hutton the human being.
Guys competitive and a leader.

Ullmark is so iffy for me 🤔

So goaltending hasn't cost us games over the last few years. Hutton doesn't disappear for 13 games this past year, and we make the playoffs.
- Buff36

36 = good post

25th and 24 make it.

Goaltending was the reason why we didnt get at least a few more points. And to find out he had a vision problem.... that sealed the deal

The worst part is that they missed by a point. There were probably 50 moments in that season that could have gone differently and the Sabres would have made it, Botterill would still be GM and Nick Bjugstad would be 2C this year

How about more zone time? Or another line to help Eichel last year??? We were second last in shots... Goaltending(Ullmark) was not our weakest point and still isn't. Can't blame the goalie when the pucks in your end of the ice more than half the game.

They may have went in a different direction with the 8th overall pick, they may not have.

I am so starved for anything that resembles success that I would have rather watched the Sabres get swept in 3 and still have Botterill than the current alternative that I think is better

Didn't say Ullmark, who was fine 5vs5, but horrible on high danger shots.

I'll tell you what, Botterill might have missed on Mittelstadt, but he stayed right where everyone thought with the Mitts/Cozens picks.

I'd rather have Marco Rossi and some underwhelming 2c than Jack (frank)ing Quinn and Eric Staal for one season.

If we picked 15th Adams would've nailed the pick

Miller might still be good, maybe not?
His stats have been declining the last couple years

Do we want any of those guys?
None do much for me

- jdfitz77

I seriously cannot believe the GM hires actually continue to get worse.

Let's talk Bills

Well we all know that, I would waive him to Rochester and when he doesn't accept Bogo him. Probably get laughed at, but if we don't go for a different goalie, would rather have Johansson backing up Ullmark.

If we signed a goalie or traded for one thats more cap space used on a goalie and most likely means we wouldnt of gotten hall and/or staal. If we want to make the playoffs this year its going to have to be done with offense and better defense. Keumper or anyone else comes here and we play like last year we'd still be missing the playoffs.
