Tanking increases your probably of getting high end talent.
Especially talent that can perform above their contract demands for their first 3 seasons.
There are definitely ways of acquiring high end talent without tanking. However when the Penguins, Hawks, and Kings (for the most part) do it and win a combined 8 cups featuring players selected in the top 5 of their draft classes it makes sense why Buffalo would do that.
Cozens becoming a play driving top 6 forward at a sub $1M cap hit is the key to make this whole ship work and salvaging the fact that we gave $9M to Skinner.
Quinn and Peterka carving out roles in the top 6/9 at cheap salaries also help immensely.
Watch that “culture” improve too because we have a lot more talent on our roster. - Pegullaville

Now name the teams who won cups without bombing for years. Again. You're pigeon holed.

How would he do if he was here with Allen? - jdfitz77
when evaluating the trade, qb play will determine who wins
we have no clue who will be the vikings qb for the next 8 years
we do know who will be diggs qb
they go hand in hand
and it's insane to ASSUME beane would have picked jefferson if he did not make the diggs trade |

The Bills lost with dignity for Allen ? - Pegullaville
Actually the Bills made the playoffs with Tyrod that year. They decided to stop losing AND they got an elite player in the draft. Not every organization in Buffalo makes winning and getting elite players mutually exclusive |

I have a hard time believing he would go anything other than WR at #1 though given that he made that trade.

Making the argument about who would do well where is asinine. Different coaches, staff, players, philosophies.. no one can ever predict with certainty how one player will perform on a different team. Maybe Justin Jefferson gets injured in his second game as a Bill, never recovers his form and becomes a mediocre receiver in the league for his career. It's just a silly what if.

Allen got a lot of accolades for his performance on Sunday night, as is expected because he's the quarterback. However, the best player on the field for either team that night was Stefon Diggs. - buffalofan19
I agree, but I think your overlooking allen - making his receivers (more) than they are making him.
Diggs - career year
Beasley- career year
John brown last year - career year
Rookie 4th round pick gabe davis - outstanding year.
Isiah McKenzie- career year ( lame post) but even he's scoring.
Sunday diggs was unrecoverable |

He struggled early in the game against Pitt
But caught his 3rd TD in as many weeks
6 TDs and 440 yards so far
Wouldn't have picked him to be leading the Bills in receiving TDs but here we are |

Why is that insane?
Obviously he wanted to improve the WR group
Just bc we don’t “know for sure” doesn’t mean we can’t make a solid educated guess at it
Also, by your logic, whatever the Bills did- trading for Diggs OR just picking Jefferson (or any other talented WR)- would’ve been the right decision Bc we have Allen |

The issue with the Jefferson and diggs trade is this
Diggs at the time of the trade was / is in his prime and has been in the nfl and was pretty much a guaranteed stud. He’s been in an NFL offense. Diggs being a veteran .... could pick up the playbook and get his body right before the season.
Jefferson - rookie with no preseason, no OTAs, and no real nfl offseason. Also a rookies WR rarely pan out in their first season
Who would you trust me starting the season?
Common sense says diggs |

John Brown was a #2/#3 (in Arizona) before becoming the Bills defacto #1 in a pass happy offence so I don’t think that was a large bar to supersede.
Buffalo throws more than Minnesota does, Allen is better than Cousins, and Diggs is just an elite football player in his own right. They scratch each other’s backs and make each other look good l.
To say that Beasley doesn’t benefit from all of the attention that Diggs’ gets would be an under statement and definitely plays into his career year. They both scratch each other’s backs as well.
There are definitely plays that Allen makes that are incredible that his receiving corps benefits from.
Then there are a lot of underneath plays that Diggs and Beasley make and YAC that make Allen look good.
It varies by game, varies by looks they get in coverage, and is really isolated on a play by play context.
I agree with your overall sentiment that having Allen and the Daboll offence definitely benefits and caters to the WR’s production more so then being in a system like Minnesota’s but it’s not as simple as you make it seem

Of course
I don’t think anyone is unhappy with Diggs

Which I am 100% okay with
