They seem to be moving to #3 on a lot of Power Rankings now. CBS and The Athletic have them there now too.
Next task, avoid the letdown game at Denver. Take the division home with 2 weeks to go. - buffalofan19
Denver shouldn’t be a problem.
Callahan won’t be back till next week, Bouye is done for the year due to PED suspension, and our 3rd and 4th string corners both tore their ACL in the last week.
The Broncos are down to back ups every where. As good as a coach Fangio is you can’t slow down the Bills offence with a mash unit in the secondary.
Broncos are down 3 of their starting front 7 and 4 of their top 5 corners.

I think (or at least I want to) that it comes down to intangibles. Cousins being a veteran QB makes Jefferson's job a lot easier. Diggs's being a veteran definitely helps Allen a lot more than I think Jefferson would, this year at least. I also think that if you take out Jefferson and Diggs, Minnesota's receiving corps is slightly better, though not by much.

What irks me the most about this conversation is the entire use of past tense to defend tanking if you're not the best. Like, oh, look, they lost 17 years in a row, might as well not try.

See : look how great we are because we tanked.

I'm just an average guy with a below average sense of humor. 🙊
We should have tanked for baker Mayfield or sam darnold. |

The Kings spent several years out of the playoffs then won 2 cups.
They are going to rebuild and contend again quicker then all of these “playoff caliber” tweeners that make the playoffs or just miss the playoffs only to get curb stomped by the big boys. |

I appreciate the jest, but I can't imagine Beane taking someone other than Josh. And if Beane had that top overall, I bet he moves back a few spots. Of course, pure speculation. He'd have been absolutely crucified if he picked Allen with 1.

How did the Avalanche build their Cup contending roster ?
Or did making the playoffs net them Mackinnon, Makar, Landeskog, Rantenen ?
Although they received it via trade they weren’t selecting Bowen Byram at 15.
Buffalo doesn’t get Cozens if they pick outside the top 7. |

You seem to be locked into some kind of one-path thought that you need to tank to acquire talent. I'm not bored enough to engage this line of thought again.

Allen got a lot of accolades for his performance on Sunday night, as is expected because he's the quarterback. However, the best player on the field for either team that night was Stefon Diggs.

Lots of publications had allen to Cleveland, before baker jumped up.
We made the playoffs the year before we moved up for allen right? So no tank involved, just picks and the lazy lineman we traded to Cincinnati.
Part of the tre for pat picks as well? |

Tanking increases your probability of getting high end talent.
Especially talent that can perform above their contract demands for their first 3 seasons.
There are definitely ways of acquiring high end talent without tanking. However when the Penguins, Hawks, and Kings (for the most part) do it and win a combined 8 cups featuring players selected in the top 5 of their draft classes it makes sense why Buffalo would do that.
Cozens becoming a play driving top 6 forward at a sub $1M cap hit is the key to make this whole ship work and salvaging the fact that we gave $9M to Skinner.
Quinn and Peterka carving out roles in the top 6/9 at cheap salaries also help immensely.
Watch that “culture” improve too because we have a lot more talent on our roster. |
