Cozens is potentially a very important piece to this Sabres team. He should be given his opportunity to make the team at camp. If that comes at the expense of the WJC, so be it. Kid is ready for the show.

Getting team continuity after 9 months off is hard enough. To expect him to come in midstream is unrealistic.

Promise him nothing but an opportunity to make the team. I guarantee he'd accept a chance to make the Sabres over a guarantee of winning gold at the juniors

- jcragcrumple

That's the thing...why not both? Because he'll lose 2 weeks of camp with a 7th place team in an 8 team league? Come on.

Don't know if they will or won't let him play, does his quarantine stop him from skating and such when he comes back, that would hurt too.

Find yourself wishing the Days away to the next Bill's game. Fun times around here again, even if we can't be there. Feels like the late 80's again.

Sorry, I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I just can't allow myself to get there just yet. I've been there before, I know how this ends. I can't enjoy this season - and I might be ruined forever. Nothing short of a Superbowl victory can sway me, and it's unfortunate that I probably wouldn't even watch us play in it - live, that is. I'd DVR it and watch it after the fact (if we won). Seriously, the decades of stupid things happening, poor reffing, injuries, and losing has broken me with Buffalo sports. I can't allow myself to enjoy one minute. I'm addicted to DVR-ing Sabres and Bills games, watching them later, and fast-forwarding the entire thing (only rewinding to when I see something good has happened). Takes about 10 minutes, tops. I haven't watched a live even in about 3, 4 years now. I do all of this to avoid the pain, agony, and depression of losing. Indeed, after a loss I come in here and see all of you moaning and upset, and I think to myself : "Thank GOD I didn't watch that live and waste 4 hours of my life. You poor souls...". Even the wins haven't come by that easily this season.

Jeez, do I need help ?

Live in the moment.

Stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. Just enjoy the game for what it is. They win, great. They lose? Oh well. On to the next.

I mean, why even waste your time fast forwarding? Just watch the highlights or a recap somewhere.

I'm thinking if Cozens isn't here for TC he's not gonna be on the team. If those two points aren't mutually exclusive then I'm all for with him being at the WJC. He needs to be given a chance to make this team

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that training camps could open Jan. 1.

so Quinn and Cozens arrive on the 7th

honestly I think this is good for the 2 kids because at that point the sabres will know if they want Staal as second line center, third line center or as a winger

and they will know if they want to give quinn a shot at 2nd or 3rd line RW

Good post

Cozens will come to the Sabres in top physical condition after the tournament. Whatever games he misses, clearly 1 of the current 14 forwards can cover for him.

* we're not coming in 7th out of 8.
Sabres gonna be rolling this season

You really think Quinn has a shot at making the team?

Girgensons
Eichel
Hall
Stahl
Skinner
Tage
Mitts
Sam
Rieder
Lazar
Eatkids
Artu
Cozens

I'm probably missing some forwards?

He would have to beat out artu, mitts and maybe tall tage for an actual playing time. Not just 4th line minutes that hold back develop

I firmly believe the 9 best scoring guys will be our top 9 and the 4th line will consist of their "checking" line

and based on that list I don't see 6 better goal scorers on that list based on potential, let alone 12

The world junior games are very important for player development.

Heck Cozens might be the captain of team Canada. The pressure of the captain of team Canada or Atleast the 1C is tremendous.

Also Quinn has never played in such a high pressure situation. Good experience for him.

Like I mentioned yesterday. If the Sabres didn’t want cozens or even Quinn to some extent to come in at the start of camp. They would have never let either player practice or get this far in the world juniors process.

Not following.
Staal was acquired specifically for 2C for secondary scoring with Skinner, and to mentor Cozens on his wing.
I'd fall over if Staal is relegated elsewhere.

Is this really going to be true for people who are likely tested everyday for say 2 weeks?
If so, really friggin stupid. quarantine for the sake of quaratining.

Hi, here are my 14 tests showing Negative results for the past 14 days.

Hi, go sit in the corner for 8 days because I say so and I can.

I'll stick with my 7th place...which might translate to a top 5 pick again.

I strongly but respectfully disagree.

Each line will have some grit.

We "reached" for a guy ranked 11th overall and he's gonna be playing nhl hockey as an 18/19 year old?

Only if mitts shows up really fat. And players are injured.

Pp is gonna be stacked. Sliding sam down to the 3rd line shows potential to add some grit on each line.

👊

6 better goal scorers
Eichel
Hall
Sam
Olo
Stahl
Skinner
Cozens most likely
4th leading goal scorer from last year (#28)

What about your guy artu ? Gonna beat out a reach?

The funny part is the Sabres didn’t really reach for Quinn. He was projected in a ton of mock drafts right around where we selected him.

It’s just that Rossi fell and fans are mad.

Also R2D2 needs time in Rochester. I could careless what he does overseas. He’s been there done that

Mock drafts are based on who they think the team is gonna pick, not rankings.

He was a reach.

Hell, they tried to trade down to 11 to take him

They know they reached too

Good post, spot on for each point made, IMO of course.

Only thing to keep in mind is the Taxi Squad being proposed. It could open up a space or two not normally available in a normal season...that could pave the way for Artu and/or Quinn...especially if Junior leagues stumble and there really isn't good options.

Your point is accurate with respect to the differences in Mock Drafts vs Prospect Rankings, but consideration must also be given to:
- The range of Rankings by the "experts"
- who should be considered more accurate in terms of placing proper value...Mock Drafters or self appointed Prospect Analysts.

If many Mocks had him in and around the 8th pick, did the Sabres really reach, or were the Prospect Analysts underprojecting said player? Especially if the mantra of BPA is so steadfastly adhered to as they claim to.

It isn't cut and dry based solely on These Prospect Analysts.

A lot of mocks moved him up in their final mock drafts because he started getting buzz as a top 10 pick.

I just pulled up one from two weeks before the draft and he was mocked 14th

He was almost universally considered a mid first rounder until a few days before the draft

IMO he’s closer to Peterka who was a steal at 34 than he is Rossi who I think is a top 5 prospect

And before I get some lame responses I’ll just ssy this

I like Quinn the player, not the pick.

I think he’s gonna be a good top 6 winger who will score pretty much from everywhere

I wouldn’t have picked him there though
