So the division alignments that Wyshynski tweeted out were wrong? Buffalo would get Pittsburgh in its division instead of Carolina?

I'm a Quinn stan, and he's probably going to need help to make the team. Based on scoring prowess alone, could be a challenge. However, he's a 200' player with high scoring ability, and they may not want to leave that kind of asset off the team. I have high hopes.

Today is the anniversary of the Bills/Colts snow game. If you haven't watched the highlights in a while, do yourself a favor and watch it. Joe Webb was the unsung hero of that game and was pivotal to the Bills making the playoffs with his 30 yard strike to Thompson in snowwwwwvertime

I was actually just thinking about that game last night. Weirdest part about that game (for me) was that there was absolutely no snow outside my house in Cheektowaga that day.

Good ol lake effect. I was in EA and the band was right over top of us. Waves of the fat lake effect flakes. Those days are fun as hell (just not in April)

It was the only game I attended that year. Tailgating was freezing and awesome. I almost got kicked out for smuggling a flask into the game. There was an attendant like 4 rows up but we were alone in our section. Nice work on my part. But there was like a foot of snow in the bleachers. I had the full carhartt jumpsuit on. It was a (frank)ing blast. We all got out before the middle of the 4th Q, there were people stuck there for 3,4 hours after the game. Went to Duffs in OP to finish watching in comfort, and wings and beer.

When I consider the fact that Pittsburgh just simply has their number, it's probably a wash.

I'll say it again: if you're only playing the same 7 other teams, those aren't divisions, they're leagues. 4 different leagues and the West is the frigging ECHL. I hate so much about the things the NHL chooses to be.

It's like the opening line from GTA Vice City delivered by Ray Liotta that's burned into my memory: "I poke my head out of the gutter for one freakin second and fate shovels poop in my face." The Sabres made good strides but it's nowhere near good enough

And this is exactly why I didn't think the Staal trade was as fantastic as others.

The value is great. But he's a warm body for 56 games and into the sunset.

Now that we know the Sabres picked the 14-15th best prosect with #8, give me Sean Monahan any day instead

I dont think it would have mattered. This East league (i refuse to call it a division) is a goddamn meat grinder

It might not have mattered this year, but next year Monahan would still be here

True that unless a couple of miraculous trades occur and/or value FA signings are made.

It didn't matter to me if it was Pitt or Carolina in the Division...I think they struggle to finish 6th or higher in that Division anyway, and probably 5th in their real division.

I just hope they are entertaining, fun to watch.

He was playing 2nd line in the scrimmage, none of the players are really bottom6 types, so right now I think that means he's penciled in. Exciting times.

I'm very interested to see how Ryan Johnson does as well. He seems to have made a big step forward so far this year in NCAA.

In other news:

Quinn is skating with Byfield and Krebs in the intra squad scrimmage tonight

Cozens is centering McMichael and Dach.

- Pegullaville

Love that Cozens got the call for top line and Dach is the one playing out of position.

Staal is very cheap, was brought in primarily as a stop gap 2C to hold the fort in provide a great mentor for Cozens, pure and simple. In that regard, he is perfect for that role. Secondarily, he is there to help provide much needed secondary scoring himself and elevate the play of Skinner. It is a good fig there as well.

Monahan's availability was speculation and likely would gave cost quite a bit more.

Let's see what they have in Quinn before throwing him in the trash bin. It is a risk no doubt, but I do like the fact they are placing quite a bit of weight on character and compete traits, in addition to skill and production. Rossi has those qualities as well, but perhaps the final straw was position of need in the pipeline.

Yea but Staal is going to go into the HOF, so if we make the playoffs it’s obviously all because of that and has nothing to do with the surrounding team around him.

U act like we turned down a trade offer from CGY

Who’d they end up trading Monahan to?
I must have missed it

Adams would never have been able to pull that trade off anyway.

He's obviously a putz.

I'm not. I'm saying I'd have rather have traded the hypothetical pick 8 for Monahan (long term solution) than get a stop gap in Staal because odds are we aren't good enough again
