Was mine but happy with Pod. Likely in the league sooner even after the contract wait. - Nighthawk
May 20 @ 11:32 AM ET
1 Jack Hughes C Michigan
2 Kaapo Kakko RW TPS Turku
3 Kirby Dach C Saskatoon
4 Alex Turcotte C US-Under-18
5 Bowen Byram D Vancouver
6 Matthew Boldy RW Southfield School
7 Vasily Podkolzin RW Vityaz Podolsk HC
8 Connor McMichael C London
9 Alexander Newhook C St. Andrew Saints
10 Trevor Zegras C US-Under-17
I had Boldy ahead of Podkolzin in my rankings but the two of them and McMichael were all in the same tier, kind of a toss up. I still can't believe I chickened out and didn't rank Dach 1 in my rankings, even though wanted to for months and months. |

“The Oilers aren’t perfect. They failed to address a glaring need in goal this off-season, and they’re mediocre defensively. But they arguably own the two greatest offensive weapons in the sport, and their power play converted at the highest rate since the 1978-79 New York Islanders last year. When you have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on a team that has established a make-the-playoffs floor, it’s fair to say winning the Stanley Cup sits in your range of outcomes in the present. The emergence of Kailer Yamamoto as Draisaitl’s regular right winger turned Edmonton into a deadly two-line team rather than a one-line team and altered the team’s identity last season. After signing Dominik Kahun and brining back Jesse Puljujarvi, the Oilers have some new options to mesh with McDavid on the top line, too.
We know the Oilers will score goals in droves again. To break through as a true contender, they’ll have to clean up their play in their own end, especially with a goaltending tandem of Mikko Koskinen and Mike Smith unlikely to steal many wins, as Edmonton ranked in the top third of the league for most shots and scoring chances allowed per 60 at 5-on-5 last year. A step forward from a young D-man such as Evan Bouchard could accelerate the team’s trajectory. Regardless, Edmonton (finally) seems to be heading in the right direction.” - Pacificgem
Never said they were.
But at 71 games played when COVID-1984 hit they were the best CDN team in the country at 83 pts and trending up. With the two best players in the league on that club it's only a matter of time be fore it all breaks. Yes they need to clean up the D and goaltending a bit but most clubs have that issue lol.
Leafs improved their D a bit and if andersson can get his sh!t together at seasons end they will be right there...just too much firepower on that club up front. I have the Oilers Leafs 1-2 or vice versa and CGY VAN at 3-4. |

That’s a direct quote from the Sports Illustrated article. Yamamoto had 26 points in 27 games after being called up, kid was playing really really well. |

Leafs and Oilers can win the regular season, the playoffs where it counts. They don't have the performers for that. Clearly Van does.
Van still has the best prospect pool in the CDN division as well. |

This I can agree with. OIL and Leafs still have questions for PO's as does Van.
Oil need to clean up their bottom 6 badly and Leafs still have questions.
Now that Petey and Hughes have had a taste of the PO's...look out. |

I think the fact that Van has better role players than Leafs and Oilers. Better coaching too.
Goaltending and defence are also big. Scoring is great in regular season. Figuring out how to score and keep goals out is best for playoffs. |

He actually had a productive career, not what was expected, but decent.
327 points in 616 games. Kind of along the same lines as Doug Wickenheiser and Brian Lawton. |

100%. I think there’s a Burke/twins story about Stefan going first. I believe Burkie knew he was going first, would be a bust, and worked that to his advantage getting picks 2 and 3. |

He just does that to poke the bear. He was just posting tweets about Gretzky’s unbeatable records yet drops a turd like “Mario’s the best”. |
