Bruins re-sign Jake DeBrusk. Sign and trade, Ek?

Sign and trades don't happen very often. But a few weeks ago Ek did suggest the Oilers were talking to Haula, with the plan to flip him to Vegas to acquire MAF. I'm not sure how the Oilers can fit that in their cap, nor what they would do with 3 goalies. But these are other dominoes. DeBrusk is from Edmonton. I wonder if he gets flipped to the Oilers for MAF, especially if Rask is still afraid of Covid and decides not to report.

A creative solution would be getting 1/2 of America to admit there is a plandemic.

I'm looking forward to "trades a plenty"...because so far there wasn't much to be excited about. Maybe Gaudreau for JVR + Ghost comes back to the table?

I'm still waiting on the Malkin to Chicago big trade

It's happening. But other dominoes must fall first. Power forward Mike Hoffman must be signed. The entire NHL is frozen right now wondering which team he'll be signing with. The MAF domino is the next one. But the key here is Chicago trading Toews and Kane so Malkin can be The Man.

I'm hearing JVR and Ghost could be part of this as well. Gaudreau is involved and so are Granlund and Haula. A 5 team sign and trade is possible. But only if Chara signs with the Leafs. Double headers are the reason why he wants to keep playing. He's an excellent pitcher. Chara might be replacing Serge Ibaka on the Raptors.

I'm sure there are times when the rumour chart is almost ready but then new info emerges so the percentages need to be updated again. I'd rather wait for an accurate rumour chart than something published just to meet a deadline that doesn't reflect the latest insider source info.

The only thing I never understood about Gaudreau for JVR + Ghost...is that not only does Philly get the best player in the deal, get the younger player in the deal, but they also gain almost $5M of cap space in the deal. But maybe there is more too it. Like maybe Calgary also sends another bad contract with Gaudreau. Or Philly includes a top prospect. We don't know all the details. So I wouldn't be so quick to laugh this one off. Ek has a Calgary source that nailed the Markstrom signing so this could be true as well.

Am I wrong to expect multi-million dollar sports franchises to be able to remain operational in the year 2020 and beyond without ONE season of ticket sales and concession revenue? Are these teams operating "paycheck to paycheck" like the rest of us? Huge if true.

I don't think it's a matter of how many owners have deep enough pockets to survive. Most teams have very wealthy owners and would survive. It's a matter of basic business principles. If your revenue drops you have to reduce your costs. The players salaries are a huge cost and they are *sort of* your partners sharing revenue. So when there is financial pain, it's going to get shared; and frankly it should get shared.

No I didn't read the facts (aka stories). But I did see the photos of Tukka enjoying a round of golf, without a mask, 3 days after he urgently rushed home.

It's funny cause it's true....

Seems a little unfair to let the bigger market teams circumvent the cap and add assets; but totally in line with the way the league operates.

- Queenie_5_hole

Yeah pretty dumb idea that would benefit three or four rich teams
