At the risk of sounding like Ayn Rand, having a healthy economy promotes public health - TheMussel
Not as much as a vaccine.
Nope, sorry to you and Wedgie because this is a wonderfully elegant idea. But governments aren’t going to pick economic winners and losers (something they’re not very good at) to get vaccines over others.
Ministries of Health are way more powerful than economic development ministries. This will be a public health issue and getting people healthy is the best way to get the economy healthy. |

I think 100% of people agree with that statement.
Unfortunately is a lot more complicated than CC is leading himself to believe. He has tunnel vision. |

Well if it was me, after all the the old folks, long term care workers, immunocompromised and first responders are vaccinated, I'd prioritize people who work in travel or own and operate physical businesses and storefronts over people that are able to work from home without disruption to their income.
But I'm just a progressive pragmatist like that

He's a former Ontario bureaucrat, so let's not casually dismiss his perspective.
I will admit that it will be very hard to prioritize segments of the population once you get past severely immuno-compromised and front-line healthcare workers.
Roll-out may holds some answers as to how they can target certain areas - they can set up clinics in grocery stores and distribution centres for workers.
Beyond that, it's probably just pushed out to community health clinics and drug stores, available on a 1st come, 1st served basis.
And I'll reiterate my point earlier - the Leafs are probably going to get in a different line than you and me. In the US, it certainly will be going first to those who are willing to pay. |

Agreed
It wilm probably just be a general roll out to the public and the sick and health care workers get theirs.
Firsr come first serve.
Which is fine, i like to see how a new vaccine reacts to others prior to getting it. |

In theory you're right.
I'm not sure how they'd be able to control that except "asking the people who can afford to wait" to do so.
But I'm not sure people would be very compliant after the year we just had.

There's likely a high correlation with not wanting the vaccine to begin with so nature will take care of it. |

similar to how the flu shot was/being done this year.
got a text that the shot was available at my shopper drug mart.
they can do a war time type draft for to get vaccinated but most likely, I'll be in the last batch of people to get the vaccine as there are way more important people than me that should have it.

Doesn't mean anything to me, he has been around here a while. And a former of anything must constantly update and take it upon themselves to learn or else you are way behind.
I honestly have no idea how they will do it, I also wonder how many people will just refuse to take it. Small business owners are getting (frank)ed in the ass here, they deserve to be able to just run their businesses.
And a lot of people have jobs that require them to be around hundreds of people a day, then you have College/Uni students. Secondary students as well.
Its funny because you can make an argument for every single bracket and I don't think there is really a wrong answer after the obvious health care professionals and severely immune compromised. |

Yeah, once they run through essential workers and the vulnerable, it will have to be somewhat random but they can’t push distribution out too far because of the logistics (very cold requirements). Bill Gates was talking about how the States should be moving now to set up websites that would collect health information to help with implanting microchips, er rolling out vaccine.
The Oxford vaccine that they announced had good results will be easier t distribute and cheaper to produce.
It will be interesting to see if Biden signs onto the international protocols about making sure poorer countries get vaccines. Canada is a signatory. |
