There’s also a long line of vulnerable people and people performing essential services that have to work and who are getting sick in big numbers (agriculture, meat packing, trucking, sanitation, besides all the obvious health and police).

What about mimes? I bet there are thousands of people who miss mimes and opera and new movies and live theatre, and local live music all of which provide just as much entertainment and just as much if not more spin off employment.

Do you put sports ahead of manufacturing? No government can make they decision.

You have to be driven by health and essential services. If you start to prioritize by industry, sports is low on the list

I see a lot saying how it doesn't matter at all and it is just entertainment, those are the ones I am referring to.

It is only entertainment to most on here, unfortunately for many many others it is a lot more than that.

Again, just because something doesn't effect you directly, doesn't mean its not effecting others. I have friends in the sports industry struggling.

It is only entertainment to most on here, unfortunately for many many others it is a lot more than that.

that's great but without a quantifiable order of magnitude it's impossible to rank it in terms of priority... decisions like who gets the vaccine first shouldn't be made based on emotion.

I am not trying to rank its importance.

I am basically pointing fingers at CC and Tumble for treating sports like its just a form of entertainment in society just because that is what it is for them.

I think its important to try and stop this type of thinking, the numbers are there, it is a lot more than that.

Your interpretation of me "getting a little too emotional" likely speaks more about you than it does me. I'm sure your imagination has me furiously typing away whilst frothing at the mouth but, spoiler alert, that couldn't be further from the truth.

I'm still waiting for you to actually rebut the thesis of my argument: that sports are indelibly linked to our social fabric in myriad ways. Economically, socially, psychologically, etc. The impact of shutting down sports indefinitely would be - and has been - substantial.

There's very little that is "silly" about this argument. But maybe that's just me being emotional.

Someone in a bureaucratic position will have to, and I suppose their methodology will be to first determine how to reduce mortality in the least amount of time, and then how to most benefit the economy in the least amount of time
