So the Coyotes and the Blues were equivalent talent wise ? The Blues were a veteran heavy defensive hockey team.

I stand by my statement.

Everyone knew Hutton was a byproduct of St.Louis.

Kansas City took the ball and ran it 80 yards in 1:30 to go ahead 35-31 and win.

Oh wait Mahomes did it with his arm

It’s awesome to know it’s possible to do that with Allen

Greene is an interesting idea.... if he’ll come here
My guess is that he won’t cost much,
but would also be looking for a team closer to competing for a Cup

Getting Kuemper would be an obvious home run,
as long as he can be gotten at a reasonable price
Getting a top5 goalie like him would be huge

Nice read Michael - it’s good to see you pay attention for us begging for Kuemper. I had never thought about Greene, how much would it take to get him? Probably not much, maybe $2m?

So.....
Kuemper for Middelstadt, Hutton (50% retained) and a 1st

Greene for $2m

Montour to LA for a 3rd

It’s about cap neutral for us and I know giving up a 1 is steep, but Kuempers that good.

Desperate times, desperate actions

- turbo044

I’d like to see a better return for Montour,
even if that means we have to add
Just dumping him for a 3rd would be disappointing

hutton with blues right before we got him
30-15-5 2.23 GAA .923 save %

kuemper with yotes
45-37-12 2.39 gaa .923 save %

I will stand with my statement, kuemper is hutton when we got him 2 years ago

- homiedclown

That’s a lazy analysis- 2 totally different situations as others have explained plus Hutton was never a #1 in Stl and has proved he can’t handle #1 minutes/games

U make some good points but this thing you have about Hutton is based on nothing more than probably a dislike. Goalies are like pitchers. They can go from hero to zero and back fast. Way to many examples to prove my point but I’m going to say the goalie situation won’t change.
If they bring in Kuemper it will be the beginning of the end for Ullmark. If he has a bad year they cut him loose but if he has a good year the chances of him staying in Buffalo with Kuemper already signed would be zero.
If they didn’t think Ullmarks time was show us now they would have traded him, then went for Kuemper

Hutton was NEVER “Kuemper”

And even more importantly....
Hutton blows NOW and we need an upgrade badly

Kuemper is a top5-ish goalie
Getting him would be amazing for us

Hutton last season sometimes looked like he had his good eye closed

He has been “good” at times for us,
but is so inconsistent that we just never know what we’re gonna get from him
And he’s been horrible way too much

I just don’t trust him to be consistently good
An upgrade like Kuemper would be a “no brainer”

Kuemper is good but not a top 5 goalie. If he is the yotes are asking for way more than the Sabres can pay.

Finished 7th in Vezina voting this season
And finished 5th in Vezina voting last year

So like i said, “top5-ish”

U wanna say “top10” instead?
Ok, whatever
Where exactly he’s arbitrarily ranked by you or me really doesn’t matter
The point is...
he’s a hell of an upgrade over what we’ve had

And that’s pretty inarguable

As for what he would cost....
Tough to say exactly what could get the deal done,
but my guess is picks & prospects

Montour to the Kings for one of there decent prospects and maybe a pick. Prospect flipped to Arizona.
Prospect are 2nd and Johansson to Arizona for Kuemper.
Hutton waived and is taking a Bus to games or refuses and is released.

Ok I’ll agree he’s top 10 and will want to be paid his worth. The Sabres wouldn’t be trading for him without the thought of resigning him to an extension and for lots. He’s not a stopgap goalie then for sure.
To trade multiple prospects or picks for him now is far to risky. I can’t imagine how far the organization would be set back if this didn’t work out. It’s not the time and Adams being a smart man will keep his goaltending tandem going into the year.

strongly disagree

kuemper was never the guy on any of his teams until the last 2 years, either

but you guys want to sell the farm for a guy with decent stats for 84 games

the proposal tossed out there was casey, a first, hutton (retaining half salary)

I mean maybe casey and hutton straight up

if we retain half of hutton, throw in a prospect

if we add a first, then you better be making a bigger trade and get Chychrun back

what the proposal was, is way more then the habs got for trading roy

There is no general manager that is going to take Hutton in a trade unless he is actively trying to sabotage his team to stick it to the owner. He has zero value.

Then keep him. There's always the possibility that his eye issue has totally healed. Maybe he can return to "decent" form. I'll take that.

That’s not true. Middlestat, prospects, draft choices combined with Hutton and the yotes would do it in a heart beat. He’s only under contract this year not like skinner or okposo.
Careful what you wish for especially on this one.

Sabres 1st, Mitts + Okposo for Pitlick and Kuemper

Az isn't gonna do poop for the next 3 years anyway. Having Okposo doesn't matter to them

I mean no disrespect to my Dev's former captain, but Greene is not capable of playing north of 12 minutes a night. These talks of pairing him with Risto? No chance. The guy is still a great leader, smart player, and can block shots on the PK. But realistically, he's your 7th D, no more than 12 minutes TOI.
