wonder if they'll go with a shortened season and expanded playoff format...the sabres could finish sixth in that extremely difficult division, ahead of the rags and devils
- Michael Pachla

A shortened season is almost a sure thing

Supposedly they wanna go back to a 16team playoffs
I think they should keep it at 24

He's going to be one of the best 2-way players (the real definition of 2-way, not guys who suck offensively) for the next 10 years
- jcragcrumple

I wonder what Cirelli’s offensive upside really is
He only played at a 53point pace (over 82games) last season- and that was on Tampa

And Tampa knows this too, so if they can’t negotiate a deal with Cirelli, they possibly would just trade him.

Adams hasn’t proven capable of signing anyone to any deal with term so I have 0 faith he’d have the slightest clue how to even maneuver an OS so the point is moot.

He also isn’t a Ralph Krueger disciple so I doubt he signs here.

He also wasn’t teammates with Adams in 05/06 so I doubt the Harbor Center GM knows who Anthony Cirelli is.

He’s working on the 2021 draft where he’s gonna select the 19th best prospect at pick 11

Also, for the "this is the best offseason since 2015"

Are we forgetting 2018 where we got Rasmus Dahlin and Jeff Skinner ?

Tampa will not trade Cirelli. If a team wants him, here's the opportunity to do so by offer sheeting while Tampa literally cannot match it. I understand the way the NHL works and I also understand that an offer sheet will not happen. They'll jettison Killorn or Palat or whoever and Cirelli will still be there. We can't offersheet even if we wanted to because of Jason "raw deal pt. deux" Botterill
- jcragcrumple

Is that true though?
Will the NHL actually step in & enforce the rule?
Or just tell them to get Cap compliant?

What’s the punishment if a team does go over the allotted “offseason” cap limits?

At that point I'mma gonna to insist the bet was the standard HB bet...a gram of coke!

If the bettors are gonna risk a felony, may as well make it an 8ball

He completely bungled the bottom 6 and had a bad draft where he passed on a guy multiple scouting agencies said could be a top 3-5 player in that draft, but of course fell because he’s small.

Rossi will be a Marchand type of player who puts up 75-85 points yearly and plays solid two ways while Quinn maybe scores 25-30 goals on Eichel’s wing.

Adams blows. It’s obvious already

- sbroads24

No need to tell me as I agree whole heartedly with respect to Rossi.
That said, Quinn's ranking was a reflection of questionmark's around who he really is.
If, and it is a significant IF, his increased productivity is a direct result of having fully dedicated himself to hockey exclusively (sport wise) and completely (other interest wise), then Adam's very well could have nabbed a stud erasing all thought of we could have had Rossi.
Additionally, IF Eakin can deliver as a 3C and play PK, along with Reider on the PK; he may have resolved their poor special teams play by also bri ging in Hall and Staal for the PP on units 1 & 2.

Lastly, punting some of these issues down the road a year isnt a bad strategy for a 1st time GM without front office experience...the fact he had none and was appointed to the GM chair isn't his fault...but securing another year of watching the players and learning more of the GM duties is actually a positive, not a negative.

The IF's are why I say the jury is still out. It is way, way too early to condemn him to hell.

Meh I get to watch football all day as I work, and since the U.S markets are closed it’s a relatively light day.

It’s telling that the worst players we signed or needed to sign got the most term.

Even in RFA. Olofsson is a very bad 5 on 5 player. He gets 2 years while the punt away the decisions on Ullmark (who’s capable of 30-35 games a year) and Reinhart who’s actually good.

This GM will pull a ROR and trade Reinhart for nothing and expect Quinn to jump in and produce

Book it

I suppose we’ll see
53pts on Tampa is probably more like 35pts on the Sabres though

I stand by my comment from a month ago that Deshaun Watson is a top 5 QB in the NFL.
